a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

So after months I came back to game to see what's up, I've checked other online games while I was off, but OHOL is still one of my fav. But I can't believe, water is still a problem. xD I was born in town with blacks and there was one ginger - Lucy Dyjak. We had diesel well, so she wanted to help with oil! We communicated via paper, had two rods, so we can make pipe, beside that I think we've got all parts for pump. I told Lucy she needed to check onetech and she need a tarry spot in arctic, I even make a horse with tire cart for her and a map to tarry, but... when I came back with a map I saw her body, she decided to die before old age (she didn't have kids and... I think no one helped her in village, so she suicide).
So that's it, this is game about water problem? You guys wanna trade and other stuff, while our mayor problem will be from first stage of civilization? Or from a world with desert only, while it's not true cause we've got all the biomes?
How can we have
1. family specializations
2. other problems beside water
in the same time? We will be stuck forever with water crisis. Game will be dead if something won't change, problem with water doesn't feel like a challenge, it feels unnatural and like we are stuck in it. Problems should progress like everything...
I repeat, because I'm a little upset. How does it even sounds - a game about building civilization where mayor problem is always the same. You can craft many things, you can progress your town just to have the same problem over and over again. Even on rift we had other problems, like people who wanted to kill families one by one.
I would like to read some thoughts about this...

Oil is interesting because water or iron are missing. I mean, I don't see why it is so bad. Can't you get water from other well ?
A trip with a horse, stones and shovel doesn't clear the issue there ?
To me, having a fundamental ressources issue is ok. Water or wat(hev)er.

You mean you dont drink water everyday?
Water will always be one of the main ressources that brings a challenge to the game, clay for example, once you made all the bowls, plates etc that you need it becomes basically useless or at least not vital for survival.
Let's say you "get rid" of the water problem and have infinite water then what is the challenge left?
BUT the next levels of the techtree might be less about upgrading water, i think the diesel engine is probably going to be the top of the tree in terms of water, since it requires oil to run the pump it's fine, oil becomes the new water.
And the next step in the techtree might be about something related to oil, like maybe balancing oil to have enough for water, iron and maybe plastics for stuff higher in the tree, maybe electricity, mining rare stuff like lithium using the diesel rig etc...

It's even bigger cause he optimized water to rift size and survival length, then even trimmed the map from usable spots. Now this changes outside the rift made compost values a joke, you rather bring soil than to make compost cause you can convert water into the soil but you cannot convert soil into water, so the water is the highest cost of food and nothing else matters really.
Compared to collecting iron and making mines, iron engine is a terrible tech to get iron for kerosene.
Yes, it's boring, he just removed most content by splitting into race restricted content and nothing new since the addition of oil tech.

Maybe my next life I'll try to live 100% without water. Nothing produced by water. Not even pond water. The easiest way would be to live feral off foraged food and wild materials but that's boring. What kind of foods can you make with no water? Turkey, goose, rabbit, omelette. Arctic char if you're ginger? You need a domestic rosebush for the hook though and that takes water. Dough requires water so any kind of baking is out. Milk? There's no wild corn, that takes water too. Hmm. Carnitas from a wild hog. Mutton from a wild mouflon. Seems like hunting and foraging really is the only way to live water free. That doesn't seem sustainable either though. If everyone did it we'd each need a lot of territory to support even a small family. Seems like the nomad gypsy lifestyle is ultimately the only one that's ultimately sustainable.

Yeah, we haven't moved to the next level of worries because we're still too busy figuring out the balancing of water.
I guess it's your own fault if you're doing water based things instead of moving onto the waterless master race objects (fishing, table making, wall making.)
Farming is for the plebians.

Technically fishing relies on water even for arctic char because you need to domesticate rose bushes for hooks, but that's minor.
Shrimping is actually pretty expensive water-wise in comparison since the net requires 2 wool to fix and it tears very often.
You can't fish sustainably without relying on having lots of wool or lots of worms, which are a non-renewable resource only in wild soil deposits.

Fixing one shrimp net cost 12 berries + 2 carrots.
Wild berries are almost always available to pick if you aren't lazy. You can basically freely fix nets by picking berries and digging up wild carrots (not completely sustainable but mostly.) At the very worst you have to grow carrots (if you're using domestic berries I weep for you) meaning one plot of soil + one water = 2.5 net repairs.
Basically don't be a lazy twat when it comes to things and everything works out well. Be lazy and you deserve all the extra management you need to do just to do something simple.

No. Personally I would like to never, ever again go to ponds/wells for water. I would like to have tons of water.
I tell you what people, on my second playthrough I was making food recipes that I never did (in some big bell(y) town, belly cause there's so many foods in big towns, that makes our bellies big... LOL. nevermind... ).
Anyways... It was f-u-n!
I tried third life and I found out that, once again, we've got problem with well (rubber this time).
I felt... like life coming out of me. xD Literally. This 'problem' is not fun at all. I was the one that complained about lack of danger after rift, so I'm ok about threats. But I wanna feel alive! FUN - feeling alive. We feel alive, usually, when we're breaking routine, aren't we? And isn't constant lack of water just a big, boring routine to solve?

generally, basic things should be low-risk low reward but you should be able to do it
the game isn't on a stage where fragmenting the tech would make it better
the whole thing is just a few hours, eve camp to working city
if you start planting milkweed you already go through half of your water supply
my biggest issue is: nobody works, and if someone wants to there is nothing to do
you got no soil and water what you even do? get soil and water
but how would a newbie do that? even if they want to be useful, they won't be, and farming is just basic level stuff, literally low-level content, limiting that is just sad.

Good luck finding all those wild edibles near town, and have fun running around for 10 years to make your free wool happen.
Unless you're way out in homesick land with your very own personal sheep pen u dum for this one kiddo.

Glad to see you're too lazy to just grab a horse cart and grab the plentiful resources around town.
Aka lazy shits who can't spend ten seconds to get 8 bowls of berries. Lmao @ you.

Ah yes. The horse cart. In my hypothetical ginger town with no horses, because racism. And no water. Makes perfect sense.
You're not very bright are you?

Hey, I get it. You're happy to sit by yourself barren and childless in a shitty little igloo with no friends. Clicking an ice hole and fishing up nothing but empty boots. That's your idea of fun on a friday night.
Maybe you should take a break from this game. Spoonwood was right. The vitamin D deficiency is really getting to you. Trust me, you won't be missed. At this rate you may as well be afk on the town fire, as useless as you are.

lel sure I remember him asking why I did a small pen instead of a big one when I was in the middle of expanding it, morti aint too bright about it
instead with tarr we just did it when he never even heard whats the idea behind putting up the fences and right after expanding it and removing it
well that was with 1 hour timers, 2 hours ruined that strategy
