Update: Table It

3H26iwm.png

Someone observed that you can't put plated omelettes on the table, which is weird.  Of course, no plated food is containable, because you can't shove it in a backpack or storage box---it's a plate of food, after all.  The table is also implemented as a container, which means that plated food couldn't go on the table.  Up until this point, an object was either containable or not, and beyond that, the only granularity was the required container slot size.  Tables and storage boxes can store larger items than backpacks and baskets, for example.  But there was no way to say, "plated foods can only be stored on the table."

This week, I added a named tag system for containable items that can only go in certain types of containers.  All the plated foods are containable, but earmarked to only be containable on the table.  This new property was added to 39 objects, so there's now a huge variety of new table-top items.

This feature can also be used in the future for other special types of containable items.

Let there be green paint and green walls.

Behold, a much-needed Dung Box.

May you plant sapling cuttings directly from your shears.

May letter stock be three times more plentiful.

And several other fixes.

Still working my way through the list of reported issues.  Only 108 left.

Dung nabit..

That new name tag system seems quite nifty, along with everything else.

We're getting close to the end of that list too!

Re: Update: Table It

This is a lot of nice QoL changes. You managed to clear quite a few github issues this week, if you keep up this tempo you might be through the list sooner rather than later.

Anyway this sounds like a great update.

Re: Update: Table It

I predict 2-3 weeks we'll have the Issues list cleared at current pacing. We're getting into old reports now, primarily the ones that are more heavy-hitting than others. So this could lean on the longer side.

Re: Update: Table It

I'm afraid the list grows at a faster pace than Jason can fix or dismiss them. If he started with the oldest reports he'd find many of them redundant that either can't be classified as bugs or have been fixed since then without input.

I like this update. It's nice to see visible improvements to the game. Storage is still an issue but we're getting there. Super happy about the dismantlable starter tools and maybe we'll see more signs now that the cost has been reduced a bit.

He did a pretty big clean up of old redundant issues a few weeks back.

So I think most of the issues currently open on github are legit.

Not true, he’s actually brought the issues down to almost double digits now. Last week it was at ~140. Depending on the next batch and how many are actual issues/balancing vs. “more content” Issues, I stand by my 2-3 week timeframe estimate.

Also depends on whether Jason makes direct new content rather than continuing the bug fixing.

Wonderful quality of live improvements. And think of all the new possibilities with the new system.

If it wasn't for the clean-up of old redundant reports or irrelevant reports, it would have been much longer. I'm happy he's taking feedback either way and the updates make the game better for sure.

Dung bucket and dung box, in the same area as food?  OSHA would not be pleased that OHOL cannot even follow a basic rule on cross contamination.
