Strange occurences in the curse log

On wednesday the 8th of January I cursed Caitlyn Wolf, and even made a post about them, but that's not what the issue is.

When it comes to Caitlyn something strange happened in the curse log.

This is Caitlyns hash:
f8a13921f118807cb24f3a87b338cf82bad49957

And this is my hash:
076ddb8f6bd8065ee1fae0e7e12bc9ec75440259

Here's the curse logs for that day:
http://publicdata.onehouronelife.com/pu … nesday.txt

If you search for Caitlyn's hash in the curse logs you will notice that my hash cursed her:

Notice that her curse score went up to 1 from 0

Now if you look at her curse score in the logs later on that same day this happens:

What I would interpret this as is that my curse score expired way too early, and she now has a curse score of 0.

You might say that the reason her curse score went to 0 is because I logged off, and therefore my curse was not in effect.

I thought that was the case at first too when I first saw this at that day, but then more investigation of the curse logs will show something that shouldn't be possible.

What I'm saying shouldn't be possible is this:

This image is taken from the curse logs of this day:

If the curse was removed from the curse logs because I logged out, then how would it be possible to sit with 430 curses when there are way less people playing than that at any given moment.

Hopefully Jason can explain what is going on here, because if curses can mistakenly expire before a month has passed, then that needs to be addressed.

Re: Strange occurences in the curse log

Curse score is irrelevant now. It's all based on personal curses now. The score was never removed from the logs.

Re: Strange occurences in the curse log

a bug i experienced with the curse logs is that sometimes curses dont get logged.
but i am not 100% sure of this.

Does the curse score listed in the life logs not do anything then? Is the current curse system then tied to something else?

Did you forget about the curse overhaul? Curses don't work as a score now, it works as a person to person basis. If you curse someone, they will not be born to you and you won't be born to them. (I don't remember the specifics) That's all it is now.

I don't think that works either. I have been born to a person I have cursed. Like, literally less than five minutes after cursing them. As far as I'm aware no person I've cursed has come back as my kid yet.

That's because it's one way so you can curse someone and be directly born to them if you're unlucky enough like you were. This means the best way to avoid playing with someone you've just cursed is to kill yourself (lol) and spawn into a completely different lineage to prevent their birth to the place while you play which just feels silly imo.

I know that whole update is a thing, I even mention it in the OP (I mention curses expiring, which was never a thing in the old system). I haven't been living under a rock. Unless someone chimes in with a reason for these numbers, I'm just going to presume that the curse log now spews out pointless data not worth considering.

In the OP I presumed that the curse numbers were still related to the new system that was implemented later and that the loss of curse score on Caitlyn meant that my curse expired way too early (which means that they would be able get born to before the 1 month curse expiration date). That was my problem in the first place.

Re: Strange occurences in the curse log

I looked a bit at random people in curse logs and noticed some with over 100 curses and a few with over 400 of them. Ofc there's no way that's linked to the number of players online on the server. One thing that i notice about pretty much everyone though is that their curse score always goes down 1 by 1 after a while.

Maybe the logs still follow the old system where they count all the comulative curses and drop the count down by 1 every life?

Yes, the logs are out of sync and use the old method. That means the person with 400+ curses is absolutely burning them at an abysmal rate vs how often they're cursed (in the old system.)
