Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

it's a good update

i like several of its contents very much

the additional diverse food sources are great & make the gameplay more rich

i also like the ability to replant griefed berry bushes

i was already mudered in the new way, with some time to live afterwards - doesn't change anything imo, maybe the chance to tell that one was murdered but
this will end up in new griefing, griefers running around & telling others that they were murdered, lol

it would be nice if one had a chance to recover, eg by eating the shroom smile
i am not against in game murder, makes it realistic,
but griefers shouldn't impact the game more than those playing constructively
& to take another player's ability to go on is a huge impact on the other players
murder is just too easy in OHOL, way too easy than in any RL ever

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

If you kill someone now the person will not die instantly, but has 15 sec left or so.
If stabbed for example you will lose your weapon if you are holding one, you can still talk/move and your text appears red.
Also you will have a red blood stain on your chest.

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

If you eat a mushroom, your vision changes, looks very wierd and funny.
It takes some time until it starts.
You can feed kids with hair with mushrooms but not babies.

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

been murdered new way, probably for gear
asshole kid sniped me in the woods, after i brought a muflon and fed it, it escaped cause they used the fence as fire brand and couldnt clsoe in time but the muflon was there so i went to rope the kid, died, wont change much, this is idiotic, one click and you are dead anyway. i killed others too, once mistake cause she killed a killer, some of my suicide babies, and somebody who blocking me out with clicking 1000 times to get gear, then calling me loser for throwing her out , i was feeding that idiot to survive and in return annoys me, so i shot her, you cant really tell much that time

soil pit needs a shovel to turn into tilled row
i need to try the shroom then feed people some

cactus still was shoe

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

Thanks for doing this each time InSpace!

Gooseberry bushes are harder to grief now. Only Dry Goosberry Bush can easily be dug up and instantly turns to kindling.

Wild and domestic bushes that are not dry require stakes and water + shovel in quick succession. This means it is hard to do with only one person.

Also we’ve updated this crafting reference with the latest changes: https://kazetsukai.github.io/onetech/

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

From Jason's notes:

"Long term food sustainability has been made much harder.  Getting up to 30+ generations in one spot should be a pretty substantial challenge, and you won't be able to do it on carrots alone.  The top has been hardened."

Does anyone know yet what exactly this change is?

He’s referring to the fact that wild carrot seeds no longer respawn, as well as the fact that cooked mutton don’t replenish as much food as they used to.

I've been thinking about that, without coming to any conclusion. Until it hit me: maybe it's not about the food per se, but about the population. Server capacity is five times what it was before, which (I'm assuming) means a lot more children and general population to sustain in any one village, since I think that the game prioritizes spawning you as a child rather than an Eve.

Wait, what?! They don't respawn? Are you sure?
And I don't think that mutton pies existed before, it's mutton itself that has been nerfed from 16 to 10.

I’m almost positive about that, yeah. Jason said as much in Discord in the days leading up to the update’s release. Although it wasn’t mentioned in the notes...
And as for the pie thing, that was my bad. What I meant was that cooked mutton is less effective than it was before.

EDIT: Also: Now, if you don’t water dry domesticated berry bushes within a couple of minutes, they will die. It used to take longer for that to happen. In addition to that, domesticated berry bushes now take a LOT longer to grow. As in, not even within one lifetime. So berry farms are much harder to maintain now, as are carrots. Jason is really pushing us to migrate when resources run out.

you may have aged and you got an empty hunger bar, so it eats instead of placing it, even for babies happened, i put them down, i lagged like three swings and she ate the cactus

seeds do respawn, nothing was changed, maybe timers

I'm not sure about that.  Last thing he changed regarding wild carrots is here https://github.com/jasonrohrer/OneLifeD … 9f0b3baa7c where he deleted this transition file.

Re: Update 75: The Monument Update

Perhaps deleted transitions stick around in the game until the server restarts? The wild carrot reseeding transition was definitely removed.
