Gold rush and reworked badlands

Life is cheap cause work is based on resources you got
Some would think more population means more work, more production, but we are limited on overproducing stuff (messed up, can't store it, can't get any use of it), also you can't work when you got no resources, cause "everything runs out"

Can't teach a newbee to farm without soil and water, can't teach to get rabbits without burdock or bcbowl

There should be a low level (and some higher-level) activity which produces some profit, so if you want to work, you can do it for free and get some advantage for doing so.

We got fishing and shrimps which give some random items for doing, they also cost some resource.

The way I imagine would be that badlands contain several big rocks, you need to gather them or split them multiple times, so you would use stone picks first (two sharp stone, one shaft) then you get a chance to find iron, clay, round stone, flat rocks, limestone , gold, other stuff inside
these big rocks could respawn over time, or maybe sections of map to totally mine out then gives next level
but it would be fine just to work around map to gather more

we could have some rivers or more like static multi-tile ponds since we can't have them flowing
rivers could contain some gold and using a filtering mechanism (either manual or later some bigger scale)
get some other fish from it, or use as watermills

Mills to grind wheat on a bigger scale and better ratio (10 wheat into 12 wheat for example, later 30 into 35)

windmills to do the same, possibly another race speciality

scarecrows and birds, worms, insects infecting crops

each of this jobs would mainly require time and convert items into other items with some profit

Maybe some quests like :
-plant 10 milkweed, reward 5  iron
-smith 10 wrought iron, reward 10 water to a cistern (accept at a cistern)
-produce 9 types of food, accept at a 3x3 floor, reward: 10 charcoal or kindling or similar
