Vodola/Starling

Since we got a bell tower I was able to compare relative coordinates
unknown.png

born in a weird camp with all tools 3-4 people from which one was griefer, no pen, no progress on anything else

Since I had a photo of other location, realized those 2 aren't far

unknown.png

Even ran across an ozorio camp, they are everywhere, from 3k to 1k to bell, even here

I got back to Vodola camp

Since I was black, spent my life getting 5 horses, some alum and electrum, dumping them in the swamp then in the pen I made previous life, the bakery I made, wasn't finished but they put pine floors, I deleted one tile to form this weird symmetric shape.

Not sure how but they had an upgraded horse cart so we weren't the first who visited them.

Bell town was a mess today, Gardener and Markx still seem to be alive, Ozorios often visit them> their main camp is somewhere 4000 away.
I even saw a car before I suicided.
Would be a good spot to start new belltower.

Re: Vodola/Starling

That's actually clever... One bell tower could be enough on the map.
Let's say a brown family has a little town somewhere in the map, and they need blacks. They could share on discord how far they are from the bell tower.
If a black family did the same, with easy math they could find each other with no effort.

This also could be used for some pros just to know where to meet, and could start a new mega town :P

Re: Vodola/Starling

A new section on discord would be helpful for that. A section used only to share coords from the belltower.

Imagine such situation: Someone on discord wants to make a great new mega town and shares coordinates from the bell tower. And says: Starting a new town at x 4320 y 723 from the bell tower. Looking for some pros to help making it. Only males allowed until we make it pretty livable.

I would participate in such "events" with a pleasure.

Re: Vodola/Starling

if the bell is at 4320 723 then you are at -4320 -723 relative
plus the bel town is slightly south Location: (-21785, -239)
yeah it doesn't matter much except
48HSIcX.png
Means that we get most families around the Equator, y=0

so far the big cities I seen are all south -100 to -900

to triangulate the towns you still need the bell town manned so they can ring the bell, would  be easier with two

we can afford a car sometimes to revive the other

and since we know this 3 locations and possibly more are close, a line around the middle and a road between them wouldn't be the worst idea, the middle oracion camp decayed and even the boars respawned, but their water could supply the south town for a while

I guess most people would run to bell would cross the middle line or something around it, so we could like put up some fences along the springs that are on zero line, the equator, 4k is a lot, 20 k even more, but if we can make like 400 at a time that's decent, I don't mean full roads just a pine road or a fence enar each spring

Re: Vodola/Starling

you can click on a coordinate from your list to set it to your 0, 0 position, all other coordinates will than be relative to it. (on default they will be relative to your birth)
you can press SHIFT+R and then a letter to manually input the coords (the x and y, so you dont need to stand where you want to have your coord)
absolute coords for bell towers on bigserver2 can be found here http://onehouronelife.com/monuments/big … fe.com.php

Re: Vodola/Starling

I mean since the bell town is kinda the most east city and the only one, can be considered 0-0

Re: Vodola/Starling

That last screenshot with the graves in the upper left hand corner, there's an interesting story if anyone cares.

When I was born into the family a long time ago, I had a very kind mother that helped me as I was new.  Before I died, I dug the only grave in the village and buried here with a tombstone, and when I passed away I died next to her grave.

Later on, as a baby I came back to this village and recognized the area, took my new mom to the spot and let them know that I was them, and that the gravestone was "mom".  She moved the graves for me, buried us both next to eachother.  Those were the two marked graved you see there.

Unfortunately after our family died out (we were either Starks or Vodola, don't recall), the remaining family (Starling, pretty sure) decided to dig up the graves for lulz and they all disappeared, but I still appreciated what my new mother in that life did for us by burying the dead.

Well, digressing aside, I'm still pretty new.  What is a bell tower?  How are you able to find coordinates to these places?  I'd be really interested, since I can never find hardly anything in the wild.

Re: Vodola/Starling

So you know, digging up graves uses up a shovel use.  I wouldn't recommend doing it, and some others might view doing such knowing that it uses up shovel uses like that as griefing.  Perhaps there's a case to get made for digging up graves for certain players, the Eve, someone really good, or something like that, I suppose.  But, I also heard about Disco family having a problem with masses of bones, and masses of graves would only make that space issue worse.  I'm assuming the bigserver2 context (you can play on different servers by clicking on 'settings' and checking 'custom server' and typing in something like 'server2.onehouronelife.com' as the server you want to play on).  There exist other complications, like people taking flat rocks from the smithy to the graveyard.  Be very careful with digging up graves if you do it at all, and try to think if it's something that really helps people out.  People playing in a low population context against graves is another story.  I don't do it myself, but I'd never object to someone doing it there, unless they put the grave in a bad spot (which could happen).

A bell tower is a tower with a bell that can get rung to send out a signal of the location of the belltower so other people can find that location.  Here's an image one with a recipe: https://onetech.info/841-Bell-Tower-just-rang  They take a long time to construct.  25 hours from scratch.

Pein can better explain how to find coordinates than I can, if he comes back to this thread.

I mean it was recent enough that I knew the graves didn't go away just because they weren't marked (using the tombstone because they want to use it for something else, harsh but okay).  It had to have been intentional.  Like, the graves were dug up and possibly dumped elsewhere.  The area wasn't built on for anything else, they just wanted rid of them for whatever reason.

As for bell towers, I occasionally hear a ringing sound, but I don't see any signals.  I am intrigued; I wonder if I am just doing things wrong.
