"Why Won't You Trade With Other Families?"

Even before the switch from "bs2" to "bs2 and s1", there was a bug, which I believe that Jason knew about, where people not checking custom server would get moved from bs2 to s1.  The people ending up on s1 would have their families dying out due to population loss soon enough, and even if you wanted to and tried as hard as you could to find another family to trade with, it would become less and less likely over the course of your life to find someone to trade with.

It's not a bug... it's load balancing.

In the middle of the day, there are currently too many people playing to all be on one server.

The way the load balancing works, once it decides to "split," it holds the split for a long time, even beyond where it's necessary.  This makes server1 come into the pool roughly once per day and go back out of the pool roughly once per day, to minimize the issue you are talking about.

Were you load balancing servers at all from the time period of the bigserver update until after the sale started this week?

it's automatic, it happened before but we never had so many players since the first steam release.
