Family specialization thoughts

So I just played a game after a break. I played as a non-specialist in a pretty beginning town. We were building newcomen tower and preparing for newcomen pump, but we had no sulfur and palm oil to make tires for atmospheric cores.
I took a horse and went east and found a dead town, pretty near. There were two atmospheric cores, one in newcomen tower and another standing near, I took both back to my town. I also took many other things, buckets, iron, plates, bowls, newcomen tools.
I don't even think about looking for other families, then trying to ask them for getting sulfur or anything needed, it just doesn't fit this game.

Another thing that I noticed is a smile face after leaving specialist biome. Sick effect is enough, this smile is very weird. I feel like that smile says that we like pain, some kind of masochists "aw that was a nice pain in there :D" haha.

So, looking for dead towns is much better tactic than looking for other families. This is obviously an issue. This whole update is an issue... It could fit in rift but I don't think it fits in infinite world.

I noticed people don't make property fences around towns. Game in current state encourages to live in peace with every other family, I don't really like it, I would prefer if we had to be scared of other families, make wars with them. I don't see a need to interact with other families, I never liked to live together with another family, what's the point with that...

One thing that is great in infinite world is that we can have different life variations instead of living every life in high advanced towns like it was in rift, but everything else sux I think :D Too many resources, too peaceful.

Reset the map pls, the world looks weird after reseeding without wiping the world. I know it will be gone eventually once we move further, but still it's weird and I don't see a need to not reset the world.

Re: Family specialization thoughts

Travelling through special biomes isn't painful or frustrating, it is a fun challenge.

Just ask Jason:

You can't have challenge without some kind of pain.  There has to be a problem to solve, or else there is no joy in overcoming a problem.  The very best challenges are just slightly beyond your current capabilities, but tantalizingly close to do-able.  You're going to fail, and it's going to hurt a bit.... but then you're going to succeed, and it's going to be so fun.  And then the next just-out-of-reach thing beckons.

You can't have a real "HOLY CRAP, YES!" without a healthy dose of "NOOOOO!"s along the way.

If you are not enjoying the challenge yet, don't worry.   I'm sure it will get better eventually.

Just keep on smiling!   No pain, no gain.

I didn't say it's a pain for players. Once you enter a bad biome you get sick emote, once you leave it you get happy emote. That happy emote after leaving bad biome is a bad thing tongue
And when I said pain I didn't mean our pain, but the character ingame must be in pain while being in bad biome, sick emote shows it.

No trading, just looting.  Didn't Pein say 'why trade, when you can just steal?'

Yeah.

You can force people to make food and fight for THEIR lifetime. You can't force people to get smarter / caring for future generations. Gene score isn't necessity. Because of that we will never organize, when the food is gone we do the easiest things, we move into another location or loot from others.

People just sit by the fire and do small tasks, the ones who want to advance technology / gather oil can't do whole things by itself. Before update I got a feeling there is not enough danger, now it's replaced by feeling life is pointless, tribe will die soon or move elsewhere. No fighting for territory cause it can't last, no fighting with different tribes.

Update don't deliver what was promised:

To make life in each parallel family feel unique - I don't feel like my fam is unique, I feel that they sucked because of skin limitations

To encourage players to bridge language barriers between families - they die too quickly so we can't learn language (use rubber ball to erase text on paper to communicate with them)

To make climbing the upper reaches of the tech tree less linear, monotone, and certain - slow down exploitation of technology and add them more so we won't reach end goal (end of tech evolution)

Your character is happy to be alive.  They survived a great ordeal and now they feel 100% better.   They are going to live!!
