New record 32 Generations

I see on the main page, that there is a new record of a family line of 32 generations. That is great news.

I would really like to know more, was I involved in that record breaking family dynasty ?  Who was ? How big was the village at its maximum ? There are so many more questions I would like to ask. At least tell us which server did this occur on ?

Behind the scenes, I hope Jason is adding more capability to gather data about these dynasties when they occur, and that eventually he will add features to be able to query, and display that data.

Re: New record 32 Generations

BTW. We had a great village on server 6 last night, that was started by an Eve, I was her first daughter, and was born in the village two more times that evening. Until unfortunately I could no longer be reborn at the village. I gave up after 10 reborn attempts and went to bed (sad).

I'd love to know if that village stood the test of time.

Re: New record 32 Generations

On Server 3 was a village that survived several hours. I was on at maybe 3/4pm and later at 8 pm I got born there again. At the last run there was a griefer. We stopped it, but it was harder after the griefer was there. But still there were many people alive and I can imagine that they made it!

Re: New record 32 Generations

It would be nice if the front page leader board told the name of the longest surviving family line, and then prevented that name from being used again until it was beaten.

Re: New record 32 Generations

When Jason prevented us that the record has been broken on discord. He didn't confirm on which server it was but showed server 2 graphs.

I was wondering too if it was on server 3 because they are my people I was with, I made people flee from the villages many time so we never had the whole family at the same place and we could expend.

Cannot be on server 1, too many new players to survive, server 2 too but Idk

As usuall, the record was beaten by closed group of people who know each other more or less on Discord. They sat together on voice chat for over 15 hours giving birtch to each other and not allowing random people outside of the group to join without previous approval from majority of the group. When some of them got tired, others replaced them. How do I know? Because I was part of that group myself. To be honest - if you're reading this post right after I posted if - It might be still going on! Check voice chat General 3 on Discord!

People who took part (might have missed some):
Kailied
Joriom
Telafiesta
Skullteria
Kitaelia
kainostella
Noe (bluegamebits)
Veene
wivernus
Blu3 Rock
Chard
jord1990

P.S.
Its 38 now!

Re: New record 32 Generations

Technically speaking, you could push a family line with a group of organised people. Very quickly too. All you need to do is raise your team into puberty and then die, respawning to your children and pushing the record up.

Re: New record 32 Generations

So they gamed the system for a "high score" instead of actually playing the game how it was intended. Just like the first record, it's actually kind of sad people go to such great lengths for something that is incredibly easy to do when you organize, which was never intended to be how the game was played.

Re: New record 32 Generations

Ohhh so just a group on a voicechat thing scamming it.  I'm rather jealous though. Can build a great town pretty fast and not worry about griefers since you just kill off everyone that's not in the cool club.

Re: New record 32 Generations

Game would get pretty boring if every village killed people not in a voice chat with them.

Perhaps this is how village vs village wars start.

Re: New record 32 Generations

Nop, thats not our village.
You can find video from begginings of our run. Kailied was streaming for over 15 hours. He saved some of that.

Quite a time investment, to be sure.  It has been reasonably entertaining listening to the discord chatter.  Hope you reach your goal.

Re: New record 32 Generations

Honestly I do not know what else Jason was expecting on servers that are limited to 30-40 people and that are mostly active when US is up. Most family lines will statistically die out during the pacific daytime.

Re: New record 32 Generations

I don't get how these people are having fun, voicechat only takes all the challenge out of the game. If you're gonna play a citybuilder might as well dust off an old Sierra game, they do it better.

Also, I'm a bit miffed that they're obfuscating duration of best legit family. Maybe we should have top ten lists for all time and for past 24 hours.

there are always some players in the firsts server (1-3)...

And if some group of players want to play the records, I don't see any problem if they use a server with a high number... In this case, I suppose that the others players will not join them with the usual algorithm...

In fact, for now, the game is "one village, one family"... and with the placement of the eve and the world-culling, all of that can't exceed several hours long....

The only reason legit families don't get further is because they inevitably get griefed unrecoverably. The current winning family got griefed twice (I believe), but it was quickly contained (aided by outside game communication). In the current meta, I've encountered masses of noobs, but I'm not sure if they're new players, or just don't look-up patch notes.

Mutton is the best storage food and produces clothes as a side-effect. Berries overall are the master food because a single decent farmer can sustain an entire large town (~15-20 people), you would need between 60 and 200 bushes though...

Re: New record 32 Generations

While it's an impressive number on its own, it loses much of its luster knowing how it was achieved. A closed group using external tools to organize and communicate while excluding other players seems to go against the spirit of the game as well as defeat the challenge. Realistically, they should be able to keep climbing through the generations endlessly until they get bored and move on.

More power to the players who want to do that, but honestly, it's just not very interesting or at all indicative at how the player base is doing. I'd be far more interested in seeing the data on legit family lines.
