Genetics in game (Ideea)

I played a game, where you age one year after stepping one tile, you had to earn gold, be stronger, marry someone, have kids, then continue as your kid, forgot the games name, but i remember some mechanics

it was interesting that you could build 3 or 4 building and the city changed to that type
also you born with random genetical traits and you could mix them to get better ones, the girls were different looking, and they required different skill/look/fame or gold to accept marriage

the one thing it could be implemented is genetics

for example:
hot resistant, cold resistant - no penalty from temperature
big stomach: 5 extra bars when adult
longevity: 5 extra years you can live(bars would decrease accordingly)
also negative traits to balance out: slow, big eater, cannot perform certain actions

this would give some extra layer to strategy

What is the name of that game, it sounds like a trip! Look it up please?

To be honest to implement genetics-- I feel like this could either be a recipe to throw off the whole game- or just go really poorly. Not to mention- it takes a whole lot of programming to implement a genetics system. Also I like how race and hair color are random and would not liked that changed. It's simple! It's great!

Fun fact- it has been proven that indigenous people transformed with the land they occupy after 7 generations of residing in it. If we were to implement genetics- it would be cool after the 7th generation- the biome in which the majority of the eaten crops are consumed in will make your temperature just below perfect there when naked- and perfect with clothes on.

wish i would remember it, single player game on pc and tablets, you were born into a family, then each step you take consumed one year of your life, fog of war on maps until you discover, there were like 6 maps and the final boss was in a lava map, was like chess mixed with some original ideas but got kind of repetitive after a few runs.

Re: Genetics in game (Ideea)

Do you guys realise that even thinking about genetics is a dumb idea unless you've also found a good reproductive method that includes men? If you've only got one parent, then you're just a clone. The only way your idea would even remotely work would be if there was a stochastic factor that simulated gene mutation so that the genetic traits can change with each generation, but that wouldn't really add anything meaningful to the gameplay.
