Player count hit 15~ tonight and reopened the eve window. Not sure if the number needs to be lowered but we definitely shouldn't be having fresh Eves leaking and extending an arc longer than it potentially should.

Yes, there was a Steam outage that caused the player pop to drop.
Eve window and a bunch of other things don't activate unless we have > 15 players, so that these things don't affect low-pop servers.
This allowed the normal Eve spiral to resume for a bit, which sucked babies away from the 3 remaining fams. And there were 3 fams all the way up to when this happened. Which is kinda crazy. 3 fams lasting something like 62 hours. I think the baby distribution stuff is finally solved!
Point being, the re-opening Eve spiral didn't prolong the arc. There were still 3 fams going strong at that point.
Now the question: how the heck can you go 62 hours without running out of oil?
Remember, I cut the expected oil production in half for this week....

Ah, that explains a lot. I was wondering why the town I was in last night was so eerily underpopulated.

you made the soil much more expensive with the updates, just saying
to cut soil to equal or better, would need to be 4-5 baskets more per compost

The low population times certainly helped with consumption and waste as well. Barely had to run diesel pump in villages I managed tbh.

Oil is a luxury. We didn't even have all the wells dry as someone found a deep well with water this morning/last night. Instead of fooling around like this for the next month run an arc with no tarry spots and see how long it lasts then do one tarry spot, etc. At the very least it'd be interesting to see how people adapt around the water stopping after newcomen tech and to see how hard they buckle down.
You've still got people out here draining ponds to survive and everything else. You might as well give us one big sucky arc so you can get some real data instead of slowly dialing it down every week.
