You eat your Gooseberry.

You put another gooseberry in a bowl and eat it out.

You snag one of those carrots, put it in your pack or basket, with your snare. You eat that later while you watch rabbits die.

And lastly, to finish it off, fresh corn on the cob!

Repeat these 4 steps to get +1, +2, and +3 YUM for a total of 6 additional pips of food, and get back to work making compost, hunting rabbits or doing whatever it is you do. Just do it.

It's no cost if you eat one raw corn a life. I know it looks bad compared to milk that is almost free but still your life cost is almost nothing if you eat 17 foods a life. No need to save every penny. Newbs waste ten times more and there are many more of them than yummers.

But why stop at just being better than a berry-muncher? Why not aim for being the best you can be as a yummer instead.

It pains me to see so many people who are willing to cut corners and waste resources when better options are all around them.

Remember that if those pesky beans go dry, turn it into cooked beans a NEW delicious YUM food. 7 pips plus your YUM bonus is just incredible.

Why do I have to play the way you want XD? I am aiming at my own personal best: easy yum and I add more to the town than I consume.

It pains ME to see so many people arguing to make others play the way they want. I DO go get milk after I eat my corn (there is no milk available most of the times). There aren´t always better options because sometimes there are NO options if I want to start yumming. STOP demonizing others choices because you don´t agree with them. I AM a better yummer because I yum my own way. I am NOT wasting resources if I help to produce them and get them from the wild. STOP pretending you have the one true optimal way to play the yum chain.

I'm sure you leave the village better off than when you found it and that is great. We should always try to produce more than we use and create more than we destroy. If you have a good time and help other people, I would be happy to have you in my village and would welcome your visit to one of my yum shrine some day.

But I do not advise against eating certain foods out of mere personal opinion or a desire to enforce my view on others. Food quality in OHOL varies tremendously. Many players are unaware of the math that underlies the food we eat in-game. It goes much deeper than the pips you can see on your hunger bar or the current value of your yum chain.

My only goal is to give you the information you need to make better decisions. It is easy to get lost in the wide diversity of foods available for yumming. It is easy to let the HUD guide you and just eat anything you can find that does not say "meh". But that is not the best way to yum ... and I think you know that. It is lazy eating and it has hidden costs. Those costs can be ignored, but they still exist. It is not a matter of opinion or personal preference, it is a part of the game.

By warning my fellow yummers about "bad foods" and encouraging them to prioritize good foods whenever possible, I hope to give more players the ability to quickly assess costs vs benefits when faced with complex choices in the game. Every village has a different food landscape and offers unique challenges to a passionate and productive yummer. Ultimately, it is up to individual players to determine how they wish to apply this information or if they will choose to disregard it completely.

There are many paths to reach x18 yum. Some are brighter than others. Choose wisely and eat in the light of the Yum.
