Job Ideas Post Diesal

I see a lot of people complaining how theres nothing to do post diesal and although some times its true, more often than not theres tons of jobs open post diesal that can be filled Here are some that I recommend some of you try.

Engine Makers - Engines might be the most important thing to create post diesal for many reasons, One its vital for the creation of at least one after the Diesal pump. Your village is counting on iron that veins will no longer provide late game. Its up to you to make those iron mines to supply your town! More often than not those engines will get wasted and turned into cars so making multiple will never hurt your town. If you don't know how to make one I highly Suggest you learn how and making your first engine, and once you do it with no help it is so satisfying and amazing you will enjoy.

Iron Refiners and Chisel makers- This goes hand in hand with the first job Once that engine for the iron is created, it will need a steady supply of chisels for it too work efficiently. Once that engine starts, you will need to start refining iron, because trust me, theres going to be a lot.

Oil Refiners- Oil is extremely important not just for water, but for the iron as well. Its your job to make you have multiple jugs of kerosene and you know your towns oil source. If your town is still trying to find a tarry spot or the other one got exhausted, its your job to find and build on another tarry spot until Oil can be extracted from it. Without oil a town will die within hours once Water supplies dwindle and iron is gone. Highly important job! ( If you have multiple jugs of kerosene next thing would to be build storage boxes next to the diesal pump for storing the oil!)

Exotic/Reg Chefs: While this job may not be as important as some above, it still holds important value in villages and will be highly appreciated by yum fanatics! This job will not only boost birth rates in your village,  but it will reduce overall food consumption of your village further improving your villages work haul.(Ice cream, Bean Tacos, Bean burritos, Pork tacos, Carnitas, Variant pies, Cooked mutton, Potato chips, Tortilla, Salsa, Ketchup

Primitive Exotic Chefs: While the one above may be interwined with the one above these foods you make are usually seen in early villages and are not made after getting advanced as often but are still made sometimes in bulk. Examples Are Omelettes, Goose, (rabbit), Turkey, Bananas ( Wild Fruits and veggies).

Berry sustainers: An obvious job  that should not take long and is often paired up with carrot farmer and compost.

Exotic Farmers/Reg farmers: The foundation of a village relies on these folks who grow Vegatables and fruits not needed as a primary source but will greatly aid Yum variety/development. Some of the best yum chains are laid on the foundation of these people. Ex. Tomatoes, Onions, Green beans (edible version), Corn, Dried corn (popcorn) Milk, skim milk, butter, potatoes.

Pig and Cow farmer: Not seen that often an is usually a rare occurrence but also serve as a great boost to yum foods and dyeing clothes as well as plaster walls.

Cotton Clothing makers: Are tied closely to compost makers and will feed sheep for wool that they will make to cloth many people. This job is important because cotton clothing is perm opposed to animal hide that will decay after a couple of hours. This job will help reduce Food consumption and boost birth rates by helping keep the village warm. Also paired With fashion jobs such as Alum finders to help make your clothes stylish!( People who dye clothing for fashion are interloped with this job)

Recreational Parks and Monumental Graveyards: This is a great job to beautify your city and make it stand out from the other villages. Throughout the elaborate grave sites and parks, Your city will be remembered among future generations and will serve as an attraction and will be remembered through its beautiful parks. This helps prevent the Samey feel in almost every family post diesel and draws on the inspiration of the players of how the park will be layed out.

Road makers: This job is important to keep track of important sights, like a path to oil or serve to organize your village but its sadly pushed out of the way because flat rocks are pretty limited in the rift. This job is still important though and a common solution to this is to space out the rocks to still make out a trail.

Traders: This job is only through a limited time and only occur through rp, Forced slavery or lack of a resource. If your town lacks oil but has an iron mine a common trade deal would be four baskets of iron for a full kerosene tank. Most trade deals occur through only related villages because no relations are very hard to understand and may be hostile.

Foresters: Great late game when tree supplies start to falter. Your town will need a steady supply of kindling and fire wood which can be acquired by planting Pine and Maple for branches.

Theres probably more but I hope some may try these jobs whenever they feel bored of their current circumstance post diesal.

Re: Job Ideas Post Diesal

i mean if you think about it, first you make oil, then you make a lot of kero, chisels, and get more iron, for another engine, and for some tools 9generally shovels and maybe hoes)
then you isntall the engine on the well
it's only sitting there, doing nothing so if you don't have oil then get some and get iron first
not like it matters 15 more min to get iron, when you didnt had any water anyway for so long

some exploring wont hurt, some parts of the map are quite good spots but some families just ruin the water supply and die out then later some other eve comes, and they do the same thing, i was part of the town in north east, ad i liked the planted trees, it had quite a lot of clay, easily defendable corner, big free space and enough branches for several fences
figured that only if it would have a few cisterns and water stored, it could advance fast
so i told others on discord to go get an engien up there

ended up with a town which supplied others with rubber,  clothes, engines, hosted most part of the population during the rift, was the biggest covered area with biths and deaths
also was a late game oil supplier, and the hoarders made a new city out of the extra bowls, plates and some tools, then i moded that city with a fortress and was quite fun to interact so closeby

finally jasus approved my idea on pines
irl it's planted a lot, cause it grows faster ( i think he only prevented the hungry work on them)
planting 8 per hour can save time on firewood gathering, gives extra boards for expansion, carts and buckets can be made in static postiion and that's why the axe froe adze can be kept there, and prevents people cutting useful trees

and ofc a cistern and a big milkweed farm always needed

the painting and cow farms are nice addition for later on
i made a few times a 9 pillar 8 berry cow pen, and  looks nice plastered
with 11 buckets you can get tons of food value for just a corn and a bucket of water and just skip the berry madness

while early game it's a waste of time, later actually can be good to make a railroad expanding outward, some outposts to gather resources and send back the stuff on rails
but the storage space, speed, lack of automation makes it quite bad right now

it really should be better options to transport stuff

but generally you just get killed for optimizing town cause
i blocked off baby area from crossing the forge and got killed
i moved stew plants from covering the boards, they kept planting that shit back
even for moving boards you get killed
or they cut trees for a shoe and then fences between them lsoe their value
but generally just you reach a point where you got a pen and 2 buildigns and every resource is far, and the rpers kill everyone or curse and annoy so most people quit on big cities

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

Re: Job Ideas Post Diesal

Tree Farmers are also a good idea.
When towns reach the diesel engine era, people need a lot of kidlings, having some trees nearby always helps. Ten trees generate Ten branches per hour, and about 150 branches a day, which helps a lot. But people can farm much more, it's possible to farm 20, even 30 trees before reaching 30 years old.
It's good to farm them near borders of the town, within fences, but it can't be where people work, cuz it will make the work harder. Also, they can't lean on fences, since it will make impossible fix them from inside, they can't be very near north fences as well, since they hide fences and people forget to fix it.

Maple trees are good for branches.
Pines are good for firewood since they don't cost hunger when chopped.
It's very nice to have at least five rubber trees too, it will make the rubber makers work a lot easier.
If you are making a recreational park, why don't use trees? They are beautiful and help the village a lot, generating resources every hour even after the farmer death.

If you farm 30 maples, after some hours people will start to make permanent fences for sheep.

Farming them is very easier, you just need to use a shear on a tree and you will get its sapling, then put it on a deep tiled soil and water it, after 30 minutes it will need more water, so if you farmed them before 30yo you can water them twice. After the second water, they will be a grown tree in one hour. Even when griefers chop them down to frustrate the farmer, they still will generate firewood and butt log what is very useful anyway, so it is always a good deal, even when griefers try to grief them.

Most people don't care or don't know yet that you have to water them 2 times.

If you want to be a forester better start at the age of 10! by making your own compost and hoe.
if you start late, make sure that someone will inherit them or they will die.
