Stone Walls are broken

Stone Walls are broken. I just saw a town get griefed by dozens of stone walls, waste a dozen pickaxes removing some of them, just to have them rebuilt, and run out of iron in the process.

Re: Stone Walls are broken

Stone walls are too easy to make. To use the logic of pine panels, we should need to go through the actual, real-life steps: cutting stone, dressing it out, making mortar and cementing the wall together. So, mortar: sand + crushed limestone = cement mix in bowl, add water to make cement (mortar).

Adding cut stones to wall-stakes would produce a new, interim object - Stone Wall foundation. This can be removed with a shovel use. After the approval time, it becomes a Stone Wall base. Cement can be added to make a Stone Wall - setting mortar, which lasts for 3? minutes and can be removed with a pick (10-20% use of a pick). After the time is up, it becomes a normal Stone Wall.

Also, adding consensus for walls - like we have for fences - and elder removal (which would maybe *not* use up a pick, or only have a chance of doing so) would make the process of recovering from being walled in less painful.

Don't build walls.  Building are death traps.   Live in the open and leave your dead above ground as Nosaj commands.

Re: Stone Walls are broken

If you make a stone wall from one side of the rift to the other side, we could have our own rift and kick out anyone we don't like.

Stay on your side, Kevin!   No one likes your goose worshipping on this side of the rift.

Re: Stone Walls are broken

i think that we need more processing  and less walking time
i generally don't do stone walls cause they need a lot of time
they also don't go to mien carts which jason promised a few times?
i did a few bell base pens, but nowadays it's just all fences
if no oe makes a pemanent pen before the old fences rot out then your city is shit

dirt roads, door mats, ancient free tiles
make griefing slower than building them

Re: Stone Walls are broken

I submitted a github report not too long ago regarding the fact that, now that we have hungry work, there's little point in having stone walls eat up an entire pickaxe to take out.

The purpose of it was to prevent griefing of buildings, but hungry work achieves the same effect without making us have to waste iron every time we want to expand a building or have to tear out someone's griefing.
