Rift Age

Is there a way to check how old the current rift is?    If not, could something be added?    Like a command that returns the rift age so you could tell if you are playing in the same rift or a brand new one.

I think it would be very handy.

In a perfect world, the read-out would include rift age, living families, and if the Eve window is open/closed.   But even just the rift year would be great.

Re: Rift Age

There are also announcements every 100 years in-game.

Re: Rift Age

The one hundred year announcements don't really help me determine the current state when I've just logged in.  I might need to play for over an hour to hear see one announcement and I might even miss it if I'm looking away from the screen or otherwise distracted when it shows up.

The counter on the main page works for my purposes.   I can check that when I'm curious.    If the server just wiped, my expectations are different than if the arc is in full swing or headed toward its swan song.

Re: Rift Age

It would be fun if there were also natural structures in game that reflected the passing of time, like glaciers

Or some kind of cooperative craftable monument like the bell tower, but which can only be built upon once an epoch, and only by two elders from different families at peace. Maybe on top of or near the Tarr monument? That'd be a fun and rare moment of ceremony, esp. if paired with an on-screen countdown notification, prompting some pilgrimages to witness the moment.

You mean a countdown to attract all the griefers on the map to murder everyone present, right?

Damn, hopeless optimism strikes again.

Yeah ... for a second there, I thought you were playing a better version of the game than the one I got.  Mine keeps throwimg me in a box full of warmongering, cactus-uprooting, bear-molesting, engine-thieving psycopaths.
