Whats next on menu on tech advancement?

What's next on menu for tech advancement?
A while ago I complained about how we still use sticks n stones for everything instead of dedicated tools, dedicated tools that could gate higher respices beneath lower onea.

You know?
Mortar and pestle?
Iron anvil?

That aside. Will we have any barrier set up to overcome in our current highest civ that will keep going forward?
Will it be a kind of mine upgrade?
Will that barrier set up a good and healthy environment with fresh tools and materials to advance from?

I know there's still a big mess to overcome with ohol before we can move forward.
But I wonder still.
