1. A server that is running Feb 2018 code and content
2. A Feb 2018 client modded to point to that server (either as a custom server, or running your own reflector that the client queries).
I think OneLifeData7 tagged with OneLife_v57 is the one that you want.
If you want me to host it, lemme know, and I'll create a Linode and give you a root account on there that you can use to install and run the server.
The original clients can still be accessed here with no recompiling:
http://download3.onehouronelife.com/dow … indows.exe
http://download2.onehouronelife.com/dow … MacOSX.dmg
http://download6.onehouronelife.com/dow … nux.tar.gz
These already have the v57 data installed and ready to go, I think.
Also, v59 fixed a few crashes... may want to upgrade to that. Or have the reflector specify v59, and then let the normal update server be used to fetch the v59 update on first start-up (though I guess that won't work if you're just using the custom server option... hmm).
But if that's to hard, just run with v58 for now to get it up and running.
Anyway, this will be like a time machine, and very cool...

I like this idea, Feb 2018 this is long ago, what was in the game at that point?
How was it like?

Pretty bare bones. There were only a few different crops, cart was as high as the tech tree went. There was no murder cooldown and "wounded" state. When you were killed by a wolf or shot with an arrow, you went straight to the black screen saying what killed you. There wasn't even naming. Would be pretty trippy going back.
Believe you're right, but don't believe you can't be wrong.

Depends on how you define hell
Looking back, it wasn't that bad. It had it's positives. My most memorable experiences were from the old days. Although that might have more to do with the newness of it all than anything else.

Anyone working on this?
I'll set a bounty on it: $300
Also, I'm willing to host the server, so let me know if you'd like to tackle this, and I'll make a linode for you.

It was definitely hell
Be kind, generous, and work together my potatoes.

I've been thinking about doing something with my docker build. I didn't find anything that would just host a container though. I imagine on linode it would be a double virtualization penalty, but something like that is looking like the best option to try it out.

My only practical experience is with AWS, but Heroku (which is easier to get started with) apparently should work too: https://devcenter.heroku.com/categories … ith-docker
Even if you install the Docker runtime on a plain Linode VM, I'm pretty sure you would get this to work. Keep in mind that Docker is not real virtualization, but a container running within the host OS. Check out this: https://www.linode.com/docs/application … eployment/

Oooh I'd like this! I could set it up. Sounds like ClownBaby is on it though and I wouldn't want to duplicate the effort. Let me know and I'll step in!
Additional thought. Have it keep updating but constantly 16 months behind current or something.

Chard, that's an interesting idea.....

Okay, this is working, thanks Clown Baby!
There may be some upgrade to v59 in the near future, and a client build, but for the time being, you can test it by downloading one of the v59 builds from above, and modifying these settings files:
customServerAddress.ini
timemachine.onehouronelife.com
Make sure to do this BEFORE your first login attempt, otherwise the client will dowload updates that you don't want!
