Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

https://www.desmos.com/calculator/qcglqjz5qp

sa1FIlZ.png

i was born as a boy into a nice little camp, with a sweet adobe pen, similar to the ones i usually do, with a berry entrance 2 boxes and the oven near it

we had no ropes, we had no iron and we had 3 females just holding babies near fire, and just berries, nothing else , no food
no soil
no shovel, the three broken tools were axe, shovel hoe

i recycled two and made new shovel, redesigned the pen with 2 more back entrances and cut the stump in front
we had a huge population but people didn't really do anything useful, asked old lady to look for iron sent her west, i went north

found someone dead with a pack and some iron in it, clothes
went home we had 2 twin boys alive and a girl

managed to make new tools, they shot a goose, we made chisel file saw and a hoe
then a pick and new shovel and knife from the three the old lady got

when i died i seen a lil girl who cut me boards
she was next life my mom, i was the first kid, we had like 5 sets of clothes
she had so many kids, half of them suicide and still

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=3957869
my first life

the girl when was older went out for iron but she died somewhere with our cart and she had the knife
she was my granma next life, and my mom didn't knew where she went
end of my life i just digged out the bushes and made 2x3x3 bush spots, near the main well

second life
i made 3 composts and broke the shovel again
planted wheat and carrots with stone hoes, had to make new hatchet as well
then i was already like 24 when i went for iron, went the same way north to get the pack i left there (i already had a pack cause we had no pop, and no baskets really so i went for iron with 2 packs)
then when i went to the righ i found 2 eves who just started
i forgot their names
i escorted them back home and gave some clothing, told the main needs and went out again

there was a huge swamp to right and a huge savanah to the west, a medium green biome above us, the eve camp with just berries
south was a mixed jungle very fragmented biomes, didn't went to far
south west i found 2 veins so i went back to camp and made new pick recyclign the chisel, possibly duplicate but didn't wanted to waste time
i had 2 ladies come with me and one stanchion kit, should have brought 2 ropes and 2 kits
the veins were disappointing with 8-9 iron each but it saved us and we could make shears, new knife and other tools

i seen other girl take a stanchion kit but i think she didn't found the vein
so last 4 minutes of my life we went back and gathered the rest of it and i died arriving back

with that stash they can cut out the swamp and make some nice adobe building
also tons of rabbits west, like endless fields
now the 3 names gonna compete and i don't know what was

checking the stdout i found the doll family is pretty close like 3-400 tiles almost diagonal NÉ and some nameless family above us -800-4000 which is manageable distance on horse

should have made screenshots, maybe i could have found absolute coordinates cause rose family going a while ago

if the eves see this i would like to know what happened next big_smile

Ehh good to see that they kept going for a bit. I put that pen together because there was a lot of adobe around. Been wanting to try out some pens that have berry entrances and have the carrots needed in there too, which is why I used the pond as part of the wall.

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

well you need to guard the carrot as sheep eats it, so i moved it out asap
the berry was always eaten by nursery people so i soiled and left it like that
one box was convered to chest other was taken so i had to make it back (second life)

i hope it's just that the other eves continued the line
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=3958628

i was gen 11 there which is basically minutes after i died
chad and hope did god job
i found Hopes body pretty far, near the veins

pyper said that "they will take over" so maybe the other eves lived more
i see no kills or any kids who were adopted
and that gen 14 is basically when i died so maybe it ran lot longer than that
should have asked to stab me

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

High moment, forgot they eat them hahahaha, it never happens because we pen them that I totally spaced.... Hmm some kind of block that its there, but not accessible... takes too much inner space... I want something that is right there when you need it, can be cycled well if you want to pump out a lot of sheep, but won't clutter main farm or be gobbled by locust children....

I was hoping no one would be stupid enough to cart up the blocking chest, but then again.... Thought about doing just a adobe corner but wondered if something less blocking and actually usefull would be nice, without doing boxwalls because they don't look as clean. I guess I just don't like how all the farming seems to need to happen all over on top of each other. Each farming task ends up having its clutter, whether it be piled dirt everywhere, stacks on stacks on stacks of carrots, dried corn etc that I think it would be nice if they were compartmentalized. This has come up with having wheat fields near a bakery. Its not essential, but feels more practical. Anything to tempt someone to spend time on it before moving to another thing. Few people will devote a life to a single task, with the broader scope in mind. I have done it a few times, lumberjack, shepherd, dairy farmer. It gets tedious, but realistically in a long lasting town, one person spending an hour cutting trees and hauling back thirty tiles of piled firewood, would make a decent impact to the functions of the town, if they last long enough to utilize it that is.

This is why I think it would be cool to have mess halls, get the eater and reuppers out of production spaces. Lose the necessity to store cooked food near where you make it. Too often bakeries end up being made 8x8 and are both, and its annoying to work in.

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

carrot on graves work they don't eat that cause they don't know they could take it off

my take on entrance was similar, just instead of 5 berry, i put a door (décor only, maybe for heat bonus)
instead of bush, boards then a home marker (then if you got 4 copper then just a radio base which is unmovable and lets stand on it)
then the oven forming a front entrance V shape and the 2 boxes near 2 sides allow to cook up some mutton meat fast
made pilars the other life but couldn't finish it, basically just put 6 pillars and 5 bushes and have it as a cow pen attached to a room

so far my experience is that is better to use boards around farm, if you manage to make 3x3 plots with boards on 4 sides (corners not necessary) then they stop extending and maybe the follow pattern

i agree with the diners just generally not enough time/resources for further boards
and people just make rooms around floors anyway so maybe fences?
would help to have tables

Quick VOG mockup of pen with added on bakery, with carrots enclosed in the pen. Really been digging the low profile pen entrance. I'd rather just make the pen a little larger, and have the blocking item be on the inside, rather than sticking off from a corner or using the five bush block as it sticks out really far.. One berry push per entrance is sufficient, but a second makes it harder to lock someone in, if thats a worry. I normally would opt for two at each unless the bakery is attached, giving you 7-8 bushes and three rows of carrots to use for inside the pen. You could do on the outside but meh, this design would be for aesthetics and functionality, not raw efficiency. Still get 38 tiles inside the pen though at 42 bell bases.

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

the bottom should be 4 boxes and the oven where the bowl is, then you could easily pack the mutton in boxes and cook if needed
also the sides should face outward, saving you 2 free spaces each

the "shuriken" entrance is basically just breaking the line, same as front entrance on a half
like
XXO
oBX
XXX
so rather than sticking outward it's just a bigger room attached to a smaller pen, but also can be just used on mid side, or all 4 sides then looks like a shuriken big_smile

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

Yeah the bakery side was just thrown together too see how it kind of fit, main thing at first was the pen with the carrot enclosure that shares an access point with the top entrance. I'd agree on doing boxes as the bottom row in a fulls setup. You could also reverse that entrance, move oven one tile to right, inside block to left and add another block inside two to the right of that one. Blocks the pen, and doesn't stick the oven too far out.

Reversing all the entrances creates a fun X shape inside the pen, and squares off the outside nicely.

CZ5PyqK.png

maybe separate into four then let the sheep take 50% and hop diagonally?
you could use the other two for carrots
but no one said you cannot put pigs, dogs, wolves or cow near carrot
actually a cow pen would be nice with carrots inside it so hardened rows block the cow from havign more than 1 space (tho carrot seeding would delete a tile)

qQrBX0k.png

or use 75% pen, 25% sheep food with bushes, carrot and wheat
basically sheperds can pick all off, make compost and eat some
so i would say 6 bush 1 carrot 1 wheat and one free tile on full time work

or have a hop over style
HIAwHEA.png
where hopefully top left gets full of dung and bottom left gets full of sheared sheep (if you put on other biome they cant go back after sheared)

btw we need to try if spring doors hold them in
onetech says door is open for 3 sec
now a sheep is moving each 6 sec, when door opens, sheep should be there on the tile which is 3 directions from door (2 if door is on side, almost corner, 1 if it's on corner but that cant be clicked from inside)
then im not sure when they decide to move and that 3 sec is enough for them to get out
i mean if not the last sheep and you don't have mouflon then is not a big risk

if it's a closed bakery with oven 2 away from door then i would risk not making pen type entrance anyway

I really like that last pen, pein.
What software do you use for your designs?

Second one is my favorite. Nice to see the designs, gets stale doing the same pens over and over.

Re: Saving a city in 2 lifes- The earthmans

it's snagit editor with pictures form onetech as stamps (1 click to place them)
bump me on discord bluediamond, if want more detailed explanation
actually would look quite different ingame cause this are huge and i tried to fit in without resizing much, and i was lazy to resize the base picture and do it properly, quick mockups and moved them left and right to see if they would work
