Why /die as a girl in a low population?

This is starting to tick me off.

Here’s an example of girl babies dying of SID in an eve camp/early lineage that never took off.

It could have been good! It was a good area with plenty of soil, milkweed, rabbits and bananas nearby, and you could have easily done an iron trip if you went west.

But every girl (except one, who promptly also had a girl that /died) decided that they didn’t want to deal with an early camp or a low population.

You see that last boy I had? I kept begging for him to /die as I was 38 and about to be too old. But he didn’t. And then he ran off and starved himself at 3. That’s a major asshole right there. Since he didn’t die I’d assumed he’d help out but he just... Didn’t.

What if you’re not in an eve camp, but a dying civilization? I guess there are your reasons like “I want to live in a city next life!” or “I can’t handle it!” but if you’re born to a mother who says she needs you, why kill yourself?

I try not to name my kids Hope as they’ll probably hold a grudge on you for depending on them. I guess it isn’t their job... Which might also be why they /die. But c’mon, so many of my Eve camps could have taken off great if they just decided to AFK instead of /die.

Performing /die in an overpopulated town is acceptable for me, especially if they can’t handle it. Less stress for that town. However, /die in a dying town (especially as a girl) is annoying.

that just happened the other day when my mother let me starve cause im a boy, she was still fertile and i guess was fertile by the time i was 2 anyway
later i born back and my uncle was working hard, but he was quite dumb, making adobe pen in total random location, with no corners, without digging the stumps. the other guy even worse, smiting without bellows, twice, then ran off with the other pack and died to mosquitoes
and then we had some twin chicks who were hogging onto the backpack, and telling me fuck off at age 2
so i shot one not knowing they are twins, i had to take out the other one as well, cause kept repeating kill/curse and running around like a retard
i don't care if you last girl or not, if you are a selfish asshat at age 2 and hogging into storage , you deserve to die
like you expect me to go for sheep once with bow, naked, then come back, go with rope and i should even have time to do all that without any food
luckily the third niece was understanding of the situation

i got them sheep and give the backpack to the girl, got milkweed seeds, the rest of tools, tools for the pen, and found them an iron mine
guess what, i would of done that 1 hour earlier and the camp would of been much better

as for aging mother who is the last i get it
in any case, you are asking someone to deny himself from a going camp with farm and go to run from bush to bush, so don't call them asshole

I let the boy live. I fed him. Then he ran a little away from camp, afked and died. That’s why I called him an asshole.

Then why not AFK/disconnect?

Fair enough but if you’re the last girl and I’m the only mom about to be 40, the lineage is dead. It bothers me when I take the time to set up a nice new place with my last name only for it to be for nothing. Run dead. Repeatedly. I can feed an AFK girl.

i don't play AFK, i play actively

i tried the disconnect, it doesn't function well

& the problem sits deeper than your personal experience in one life

1. to be a girl, a female in OHOL is unrewarding
2. being a male has the reversed problem, males are being killed because they are not a girl & they even kill themselves because there is no option for them to have kids

those two problems are linked & have to be solved on a more general level

you cannot ask other players to play something they don't want to
if a life is unsatisfactory, i suicide, no matter if baby, adult, female or male
if i spawn life after life a female baby, i am fed up
being a female is boring & stressful at the same time i won't do that life after life

one of the solutions would be to give a female a baby sling finally
so ask Jason, then i would be more willing to stay as female

another solution would be to give males the option of cabbage kids
this would solve the burden for all females to be a birthing machine

asking other players to be your birthing machine is not the solution - it's a multiplayer

Why would you beg your son to /die, he is not going to come back as a girl by doing that. Isn't the point of telling a boy to die so that they will come back as a girl?

I agree that SID is a major problem in low population camps, but for those that want to Eve it is the only viable option. It sucks when they screw other Eves other in the process though.

It doesn't take more than a few seconds for a baby to die if not fed.

That gives the person time to try to get back as a girl before age 40.

Not hating on Oblong, but it is not the strategy I would have used.

It takes 20 or so seconds for a baby to die if not fed and cold, at least during all the times I ran off as a baby. I turned 39 soon after the boy was born. Starving him wouldn’t get rid of my cooldown. I asked him to /die to get rid of my cooldown. A fed kid at 1 or 2 years of age would starve to death slower than a newborn.

Finally, someone said it.
In a gen 2 run, my only daughter was iffy about staying. I begged her and she agreed. She never did any work and I was constantly worried she would run off and kill herself. When she was around fifteen she went to the desert and afk'd there. You can't have any kids at that temperature, so rip to that town.

maybe that player didn't get the message with the temp update & thought desert will keep her warm, as it was before
i encountered many players who are not familiar with some changes done over the last months, not everybody is playing daily & checking out the last update
like some people are still using milkweed thread to sew clothing although wool would be easily available
some even still make compost piles although not even sheep pen there

we tested a bit before, if you feed a kid once, and starves on normal temperature, which is like 25 sec, chances are like 33% that you become fertile again by that time
also considering that server population is low when you don't have kids, chances are you can get back a kid younger than 30 years old if you ask him to starve
