Empty Server?
I kind of want to train up and figure out how to do things on my own. Does this game have low population public servers?

You can run your own server on your pc. Easiest if you are using Linux, otherwise the next easiest way is to run a Linux vm.

then your just go into settings and pick what server you wish

In your game directory there is "settings" folder. In there you must find those text files:
"customServerAddress.ini" - put the server ip/domain here (without the trailing :port)
"useCustomServer.ini" - put 1 there instead of 0
IMPORTANT: By setting "useCustomServer" to 1 - you disable game updates. Make sure you keep up with the game updates on your own (using discord / forums / website) and set is back to 0 whenever update is available. After that you need to log into game at least once to download update.
