Hear me out, it's been my idea for a while:
What if there were seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter) and all had their own ups and down
The interface would have a card on the top left, where it shows the current season with the name and an image
Spring and fall: 3 hours
Summer and winter: 2 hours
Fall and spring would be normal, like right now
In summer: plants grow faster, warmth is higher, colors are more bright BUT water slowly disappears
In winter: colors are saturated, plants don't grow (trees grow but only in sapling stage), water sources freeze (can make holes to get water), geese don't spawn at ponds > basically a test of how much you can cope and survive
And two new deaths: hypothermia and heat stroke, next to season label
Hypothermia: too cold for a while and start to freeze: cold 2 min>very cold 2 min>freezing 1 min>Frozen ? min
Can't move and die in same time as injuries and to unfreeze, a person carries you to fire (has to be over average temperature to defrost)
Heat stroke: too hot for a while and start passing out: hot 2 min>very hot 2 min> passing out 1 min> passed out ? min
Can't move, black screen AKA see nothing and die in same time as injuries and to cool off, person carries you to cold place (cold temperature) or puts bowl of snow on you
Carrying a person is carrying a rock, but a bit lighter

Yeah, I've been thinking about this idea too, I'd really love having to gather up and store food to survive the winter. The idea needs to get some work done but I really think this would be a good feature to add into the game.
Noobs are fine, but noobs that don't listen and refuse to learn, get on my nerves. Your ignorance will lead you to Donkey Town one day.

Seasons would be kind of unessasary, and confusing with close by biome borders. What I think could work is a day night cycle, with clothes being only needed during night (though VERY useful) with a possible freeze system for the arctic, if you are naked (or desert at night?). Overall, this would add a cool new challenge, and perhaps make the desert less useful, with it having sarcastic temp changes. (And we still need bigger biomes)

TO UnnoticedShadow:
Yea, It could be that, but what I meant is everywhere the temperature is colder or hotter than usual, but day night cycle work too

Yea, but did you forget to mention summer, cuz it's the best time of the year, but of course the water disappears slowly

I kinda of like seasons or any other weather mechanics more than and night. day and night cycles are already kinda short in real life, in this game it would be just unrealistic.

Maybe the day night cycle could be every 30 min

So, you would live in darkness half of your’e life, no way! Maybe days last 510 mins? (I meant five to ten)

i could see seasons working if not so cruel
i mean, if takes lifetimes, kills a lineage
if its more cosmetic, its pretty nice, but having snowy things is a lot of sprites or versions of items, maybe snow could be on tiles and walls only
now that we got more wood, we need more cheap shelter options and room heating
anyway is way too complex and not so fun to wait on real game mechanics and getting cosmetics and bug fixes
day/night could work with 3-5 minute long nights for every 25-30 min maybe, its still not really realistic based on aging
but would be nice as gameplay element, storing up food and maybe getting tasks daily? rewards or punishments on end of the day
for example: build a marketplace and storage
then get quests, ''plant 5 carrots'' for a reward of 3 iron
tasks could get harder with time, with multiple choices afterwards
and some specialization of cities could be possible
if you could get iron for planting stuff or flat rocks for killing animals, or clay for making stew/pies etc. then would be pretty distinct towns

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

I would be very happy if there were any seasons or concepts in the game. But I'm afraid it'll work out in this one-minute game.
!eve painter! You will have a color name.

Don't refresh your own posts please. You got an answer, now you can let it die. It's not like further discussion will turn it into an implementation Jason would consider.

15 seconds of summer

As bendi already brought up every minute ingame equals 1 year in real time. This is why the game doesnt have seasons(Which would last 15 seconds each) or day/night cycles(You do the calculations on how long it would be dark for)

Can people stop replying to this thread please? Or can it be locked? It died. Bumping it to the top of the forum encourages people thinking they can just "Refresh" (at the time of posting its already at the top of the index, so my hypocrisy is minimal)
