Berry Running

An effective way to contribute to your town is what I call berry running, it is basically running with a bowl, filling it up with berries and running back to town and taking a new bowl and repeating.

This is really effective because of how berry bowls work, since you eat one berry at a time, young characters will have something small to eat instead of wasting pies or big foods.

Also because you can place 6 berries in a single bowl instead of the 3 item limit on baskets.

As we all know berry bushes are everywhere, and they regrow berries without maintenance so it is always available. And you will never starve while doing this job, young or old.

You can do this with more effectivly with different gear:
Basket only: 3 berries obj_292.png
Bowl: 6 berries obj_253.png
Bowl and backpack: 10 berries obj_253.png+obj_198.png
4 bowls, a hand cart and a backpack: 26 obj_253.png+obj_253.png+obj_253.png+obj_253.png+obj_484.png+obj_198.png

Since a bowl is very easy to get, you can start running during generation one and any generation after forever. A backpack is a huge plus, as well as clothes, the more the better.

If a town has some bowls filled with berries at all times, they can focus on advancing tech and gathering supplies

edit: corrected that bowls go in hand carts

Re: Berry Running

yes but be aware of the village's need for empty bowls.

I had a very frustrating one where someone had filled absolutely all of the bowls available with berries, so we couldn't forge or farm untill we made more.

I will be eve tana. If not an eve, my kids will be called numerically : Primo, Duo, Tertio, Quattro, Quintus, Sextus, Septimus, Octavius etc... ending with an -a if you're a girl.

Re: Berry Running

I just wish people would learn to eat different sorts of food rather than hardcore berry abusing or how to nomad when food gets low.  Also this strategy makes sure that if the town is overpopulated and runs out of food every single berry bush around the town is picked empty so rip for nomading the starvation phase.

Unless you have sharp stone its op.

Re: Berry Running

Filled bowls counts as large items, so no filled bowls in carts, as I wrote

Re: Berry Running

Cooking eggs are also nice and renewable, but it requires baskets to store eggs in and making a fire. A little bit more work but also very strong.

Re: Berry Running

This must be the best sarcasm I've ever come across. I think since I have played so many eve runs in my life, that sticking to omelettes over berries is much more convenient, since eggs spawn from ponds after time without maintenance (especially if you are located near a ton of ponds), and if you are that sharp stone in the basket, you only make omelettes time by time, so that the hot coals will keep on burning and you don't need to find kindling that fast for new fire. Berries are very effective for children and elderly to eat, but massing them for adults is just ridiculous. I have also come across some people who stuff all the bowls with stew which too is rather annoying even though it is two munches on it.

If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.

Re: Berry Running

Can we not post misinformation on the forums? Stuff like this will lead to people not knowing any better from copying this and annoy anyone who actually knows stuff about the game.

Bowls of berries fit in a cart. I have no idea why you are telling people to go run around and collect berries in a basket unless your goal is to collect gooseberries for seeds. Mutton pies are not the best food game, milk is easily the best food in game.

Spamming every single bowl in town with gooseberries is pretty much the opposite of helpful. By the time you have a cart food should be at a state where running around collection wild gooseberries is kind of pointless.

Eggs and wild gooseberries respawn at the same rate: Early gen you should be leaving gooseberries on trees for people foraging to eat while someone else is focusing on setting up the farm and collecting the eggs.

This is a bad thread and it should feel bad.

Re: Berry Running

berry running is useful as a toddler on an eve camp after you have a few bowls and that's pretty much it. its a nce and fast way to help your eve smith without worrying for both food and wood. just leave most bowls home.

Re: Berry Running

This is terrible advice!

People need way more food when they are too cold. Bear skin rugs are the warmest tile. And wolf skin hats are the warmest headgear.

What you should be doing is collecting as many wild bears as possible and lead them into town so people can make rugs.

Also, taking a cart full of mutton out and bringing tame wolves back to town for people to make wolf hats is really helpful, plus you get free puppies!

Re: Berry Running

i told you long ago, actually taking a bowl in pack and a baby, tell him to fill it and go back to camp
i guess also tell to take it with him when exploring and only eat when 5 missing
saved last females often with berry bowl

also nifty trick to use wild carot to make compost or sheep food

berry bowls do go into carts
i seen many civs wasting soil while wild bushes full
each time a wild berry is full for 10 min you lose a berry technically so pick off 1-2 from each bush
