Re: Request for an Eve Bot

A killing bot. . . Dude that is like impossible

A farming bot would be stupidly hard to make

If I could I'd make a farming bot. One that waters all berries within a radius or something.

I find the concept of automated griefing quite amusing though. Imagine if he used two bots, one for wearing off curse and another to make/find a knife and murder nearby players.

What makes you think none of those things are already in place? Also, you think how my bot got its nickname, "Santan"?

Because it said 666 and honestly I wouldn't know the difference. A human griefer has so little personality or social skills that they may as well be a bot.

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

Yeah, the thing about bots is that EVERY movement for EVERY scenario has to be programmed.  I don't think you understand the meaning behind how difficult this is.

Thats where you're wrong. There are generalized solutions where you try to match a certain pattern to decide on correct action and even then you have "default" behavious as fallback. On top of that there are self learning neural networks that don't really expect you to know all the possible moves beforehand - more, they can expand factors being taken into account in the decision making process on their own. My solution is mostly based on patterns but neural network is a must for scalability.

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

While patterns of sorts would work, it would be very hard to program a complex enough program to let alone survive itself, much less simulate human behavior accurately at the same time.  Self learning would not work though because this is a multiplayer game, and you can't have mass amounts of bots working like that in game. (without a massive player-base and MASSIVE amounts of accounts)

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

And yet Santan can survive up to old age on a regular basis.

Santan?  I thought that was a bot that randomly walked around

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

Yup. It was only walking around randomly saying "666" from time to time back before he (me) got banned but there have been significant improvements.

Can Satan complete the tutorial, bonus points if it can escape.

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

I have looked up as much about Santan as I can, and other than the old random walking code you made, I did not find anything other than a bot coded to eat the nearest berry bush.  What does this bot do now and what could be done to detect it?

Well that can just be scripted with macros... not much of a challenge

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

After some deep thought, the only way I could think to get rid of bots would be a re-captcha bot test, which I belive can work natruallyinto the game by putting the "I'm not a robot" button onto the login, but I do not know much about re-captcha,
or how hard it would be to add in the game and overall, since this is only a problem in donkytown I think it is best that we ignore this problem for now and maybe get some kind of primitive bot detector for VERY basic bots (ei Running south forever) and leave this issue alone.

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

I doubt jason is interested in bot cat-and-mouse games.  How about only lives where you die of old age count toward working off your curse points.  Would foil a fair amount of bots i imagine.  And regardless of bots, would make the cursed take banishment more seriously.

I try to avoid giving to much details about how Santan really operates because I wonder how long will it take for people to find him out on their own. Also - if I give you any real details, you would most likely find him, investigate him and find better ways of recognizing Santan. Game would be over at that point big_smile

I personally like this idea. Although it may be a challenge. Perhaps round it up to 55 or up age, especially if it around in area that is mildly dangerous to live in the minutes.

If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.

That would be brutal Redram.

Starting the timer 5 minutes in would do the trick.

Re: Request for an Eve Bot

I'm a little worried about how bad people are at thinking of non-invasive counters.  Only count cooldown time after they grow hair.

EDIT: late to party

Depends if you believe Joriom's claim that his bot can live till old age pretty regularly.  End of life food bar is so small, even a bot just running around grabbing wild food may have a hard time of it.  To say nothing of the animal risk from constantly running around.   The thing about only counting time after some certain point is, if they're legit playing you're cheating them out of time all the time.  I think it's better that it be backward-inclusive.
