Servers down?

I just tried to log in to the game, and I keep getting a message saying the servers have been shut down for maintenance. (Even though it was up and working fine just a little while ago.) I've never seen it do that before.

Has something gone horribly wrong?

Ah I just bought the game, was super annoyed that there wasn't a media link to a twitter or something that would tell us the servers were down. I wouldn't have bothered buying the game if I knew I couldn't play immediately to be honest.

I haven't seen an update taking longer than an hour. Also, most of the time servers also go off in rounds - first odd numbered ones, then after they're done even numered ones update. Most of the time players don't even notice that update was just rolling in.
