Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

First I had a lot of trouble updating, but i tried the being patient thing and finally it worked for me. Took about half an hour but i did get to play the game for a while. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even got a good mom once or twice! Though most just abandoned me, saying sorry or oops lol.

My current issue is, I died once, and exited and now my game is stuck in an update loop.

im on windows, have redownloaded and installed multiple times and tried this a lot, please help.

Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

Yep, part of the reason I finally created an account for the forum is been having the same problem. Was worried.

I log in as normal - despite all the updates for the last few months and it goes through an update loop. Gave it a rest for a bit to see if something was happening server side, but still having the problem...! sad

Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

I have just tried using the command prompt - something I am not massively comfortable with (not sure what the heck I am doing...). Doesn't work.

I remember when I first bought the game I was, ahem - sad I know, massively impressed with myself that I managed to get it working in the first place, but this has befuddled me.

Only point I would say - Windows had a massive update earlier - what have those tricky sons of guns at Microsoft done to prevent me playing my fave game...?

Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

I cannot get the read-only off of my folder. I tried doing it through properties and through the command shell even though that was the most confusing thing I have ever had to endure. Someone, please help me.

Move it out of programs folder.

Can you provide a screenshot? Better yet, join the discord server and ask in the #ask-for-help channel.

This is a very common problem on Windows.  The game now detects this problem and warns you.

Known-to-be-safe locations include the Desktop and Downloads folder.

If you think your problems are related to write permission, you MUST reinstall the game from scratch in a new location.

NOTE:
A bug was discovered in v65 that is causing "read only" error messages incorrectly.  If you're struggling with this problem, try downloading v65b for Windows and installing from scratch.

I was struggling with this particular issue, I have a separate drive for all my games, and when trying to update the game, I would get the above error.
Trying the usual "Run as Admin" / ensuring folder and drive is not set to "Read-Only" did not fix the issue and checking all AV and Malware software was not blocking anything.

I was also having an issue when I would install the game to the desktop and download folder as mentioned above, but this also failed.

I finally managed to fix the issue, with a simple restart, something I usually do first when I have issues with a new install, but didn't on this occasion for some reason.

TL:DR;
Install and restart, before you do anything else if you have the "game folder installed in a read-only location" issue.

Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

Okay, I am already annoyed and I have not even got to play the game, yet. I downloaded the windows exe. link and went through all the steps to extract game to desktop. But, when I launch the game to play it and I long in..the game will not connect to the server. After it retries to connect it says downloading the update, the downloading bar does not move or progress. Then, the words change to install a later version of the game. I can't do that if I don't know how. I am extremely frustrated at this point. Someone, help.

Re: Solutions to common tech-support problems

I'm in India.

Game ran fine on July 30.

Game couldn't connect to servers on Aug 1.  I got that red exclamation point in a square box at the top of the screen.  Also couldn't connect to game website.

Installed a VPN.  Fixed the problem.

I'm assuming this is an India problem but just in case something changed that affected other countries, letting you know.

How to change email for game account?

"Stay Healthy bros" I say as I walk into a unseen snake... (Notable lives, Lauren, Sunny Hunt II, Broox... but the most notable lives were Emily Earthman, Beatrice Learner, and Aya, These people raised lots of different kids, saved farms, killed greifers, made pies, or helped the hurt/sickly.
