Catch me up!

I left not long after the apocalypse update. Closer to early/mid April. Ive slinked around on the forums from time to time but played today for the first time in months because I wanted to see how the tamed goose mechanic worked since it was really close to my chicken idea, I was proud I lived to 28 since EVERYTHING is so different

So catch me up! What's the important bits now? How are some of the new crops managed, obtained, and renewed. I know carrots will eat soil now, and wheat can as well. But now that civilizations seem to be booming again somewhat, I think I might be able to play again. (I've never been a good Eve)

I am but a humble pie baker, struggling to do her craft.

Re: Catch me up!

I don’t know much about the new crops but

Beans work just like carrots.
Berries were considered the “prime” food for a couple weeks but then they got nerfed and now it’s pretty much everything.
Eat different foods to get boosts in hunger.
Thirty units of soil in each deposit (correct me if I’m wrong here) which can be transported three at a time in a basket.
Water is much less finate now. Not sure of the precise amounts, but regardless of whether something is dry, one unit of water regenerates every thirty minutes. I think ponds have 10 water, shallow wells have 20, and deep wells have 80?
Water in deep wells must be collected with bucket
You can bury someone by using a shovel on their corpse and adding a flat rock to make a gravestone
Small items can be placed on graves
Letters “M” “B” “U” “S” create templates Mother, Brother, Uncle, Sister on graves accordingly
Bell towers appear in big cities and set the home marker for anyone without one when rang. Every three hours another layer can be added.
Mouflon -> Mouflon lamb -> Domestic lamb

I know there’s more but it’s nearly midnight

And I’m writing on a teeny phone so it’s hard to type much more

Probably edit tomorrow

Hope this helped in the meantime

Re: Catch me up!

compost was made harder so sheep more important, so some of us rushed it 2-4th generation
first soil was very scarce but hoes were op
then soil became more abundant and transferable on cost of more tilling so hoes became nerfed
iron was too scarce but vein gave a lot, i guess it gave some benefit to towns with close by iron mine
then iron became more abundant but tool making also more often needed

berry was op but four one hour wasnt worth for everybody to plant it
berry meta changed its timing so it were huge beryr fields, now needs soil so hard to make that much and keep it up for long

first wells were placeable, and too many wellwalls blocking city
then they became  unplaceable (only to be made on dry pond) but a huge boost to starting storage and some to upgrading them, so first we seeked desert with some closeby ponds then terraform anything ,now again we go back to swamps

worms were added and were too slow at first and limited then
limitless but still slow
now useless and lot of garbage in big cities

jason kinda fixes msot issues, not everything

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.
