Teaching went wrong

1. my mom was new, told her to find desert, near water, we found it, i was a guy, made marker, she got lost as bushes ran out on left, she never seen big green biome 30 tile to right, i made two kilns and set up farm quick, but she never came, i suicided early
2.mom was new, i was girl, had a noobcamp, green biome middle, she already made a hoe from stone, a wet clay bowl and seed into soil, but no clue how to make kiln, no water on that mini swamp, i scouted a bit, just south we had desert and water, invited her over, she had 5 kids soon, then i had two then she had more, told her to put them on desert, i gave her food, soon all kids grew, ate berries from camp to all biome, made kiln outside desert, a sister found the noobcamp and took the bowls i made, ate all food before me, and made even more soil to noob camp, so we all starved, as i tried to keep my daughter alive but she took all food, took my basket and even took the last burdock, she killed 7 kids this way, trying to water a far away farm, and her last daughter didnt make it either, take soil to water not other way around

3. mom was new, i was a guy, kidnapped a bro when she ran for food, fed him once and raised him up on other side of a swamp, i left her alone, trying to make a camp and when i got farm invite her over, she couldnt raise our sis, and on my next visit all i seen she ran south instead following me, never even found a grave, bro had mood to play, was new as well, showed bushes, how to make marker, and made a farm, brought some iron but then i just chatting and showing corn and some small things, as we were two brothers
4. mom was inside decayed city, she was nice giving me hat and loin cloth, i was second son but big bro died, she searching shovel i send her there, she was impressed (i seen on corner of screen she didnt), granny told it would take a while to fix pen when i started, she was composting under a half decayed pen(missing pits), but i did it in minutes, we had some thead for rope, i made a pack, then took some food, scouted a bit, found escaped sheep and a horse cart, fed the sheared escaped sheep then took the lamb home. mom and black haired lady i cant find on tree never had daughters, helped bro make a cistern then we made adze, horse stop, fed sheep and made a wheat farm for next lucky eve, no girls me and bro played till 60

teaching? bad idea cause time loss, if i can make farm asap, mb save someone
saving noob eve mb for babysitter

Re: Teaching went wrong

Well it definitely isn't gonna work every-time. Do you think these people are gonna be slightly more competent next time?

I think a LOT of people are REALLY FUCKING NEW.. Some guy didn't know how to make a bow the other day and
sorta just groaned when I told him how..

It can be frustrating to deal with the people who nab all the gear and then sit around the farm eating all day. It is
only worse when these same people talk about how we need to be abandoning more kids.

Re: Teaching went wrong

the 5 kids survived until 5-16 when mom had no clue how to raise them, so pop control might of been necessary that time until i can make a farm, maybe she will be a bit more competent next time, she had 2 kids who knew stuff so even raising them with desert tile is an advantage

1 and 3 dont think learned much as they got lost before i could tell them to help me
my kidnapped bro wouldnt surviv alone but at least knows a few things now, which can prove useful later

my last bro was a good player, just didnt k new the update and slow at exploring, he definietely learned some stuff and we left a wheat farm for the next eve

Re: Teaching went wrong

Cool, if we rub off on em a lil bit each time before you know it there will be a lot of strong players out there smile

Re: Teaching went wrong

Yeah I definitely noticed a massive uptick in new players last night too! Had a few newbie mums I couldn't really help teach that much and a bunch of new kids that I had mixed results with. One town I was in seemed to have a nice mix of experienced players and new players that were willing to be helpful and learn. Managed to pass on some farming skills before I died of old age so was quite a nice run through and will hopefully help the new players in their future game.

The other game I had, had a town which I think was absolutely full of new players haha. Spent the whole time running around like a mad women trying to keep the farm alive, which was hard as couldn't consistently get people helping me with basic jobs like watering and corn harvesting. Its a shame because the farm was in a great spot and someone before me had built a massive milkweed farm at some point so we were ready to move on to smithing and sheep-but couldn't even get a rabbit hunter for some backpacks lol. In hindsight perhaps I should have picked a couple of apprentices early on and giving them all the farming work so I could do some of the more complicated jobs.

Eitherway I think its best to teach as much as possible-as yahg said if we pass on a little bit of knowledge each time, hopefully they'll be strong players in no time! I definitely try and give the newbies as good an experience as possible because the game just isn't any fun without players if everyone gets scared off smile
