lineage ban n birth control

with the 3 hour ban ppl feel the need to raise as many (or at least as many female) babies as possible, just in case they will all die and u will not get anymore babies. if there was a way to control pregnancy these baby booms would not occur while still keeping the benefits of the lineage ban. as it is now, second or third daughters of a line just pop out and keep all the babies, leading to mass starvation. please jason, consider birth control

Re: lineage ban n birth control

or even worse, you wont get a chance in a city cause they dont pick you up, you are a bay, first time there and you dont get a chance

1 hour ban would do the same, nobody will be there to avenge, or at least abandoned babies could respawn, maybe you cant see names until mom pick you up, seems unfair that i am abandoned as baby when i was the eve

Re: lineage ban n birth control

If people just accept the hardmode challenge of raising all the babies you get it can be pretty intense.. I just raised like 10 or so babies as Eve.

We had corn farm and were about to start to smith as we still needed rabbits captured. Feeding all them people is possible, I had grandkids with hair by the time I died.

One of my girls even made me a cute skirt <3

Re: lineage ban n birth control

I would actually really like to see a longer birth cool down time, particularly amongst younger  mothers and definitely younger eves. Last night as an Eve I popped out like 3 babies in a row- the first one couldn't even eat yet, I hadn't found a green tile, but already a 3rd baby had come along! I mean abandoning babies is part of the decisions you make in game, but it should be a decision you can actually make and not something your forced to to because you literally can't single handedly feed 3 babies at once lol.

My suggestion would be to have breastfeeding slow down the birth cool down time. That way you have a bit more time to sort out your first kid before a second one comes along (which makes for some more quality experience for the baby player) and also means you've got some more complicated play style choices to make. For example if you're doing something like repopulating a town and you have a son, you can choose to waist resources feeding him carrots to up the chance of having a daughter etc.

Re: lineage ban n birth control

I've already implemented breastfeeding as birth control and it was super easy, although it hasn't been playtested at all. If anyone is interested, I can share my code so you can run it on your server.

Re: lineage ban n birth control

i had eve runs but my kids fed each other so couldnt kill them, idiots run back anyway if i tell them no food
they fed brothers, ended up with 3 guys, kinda useless
then 4 more sons, 3 same time, very often
then two daughters i had to keep, one was good

but its not enjoyable that i make 8 sharp stones, 6 baskets and they go with snare but die, take hatchet,  make kindling in forest and leave it somewhere

other run i had to explain 5 times to stay under the kiln always, then i died of starvation cause had to choose one kid and even he drops after i tell no food so i ended up dead carring him to food
