Why i leave civs

Civilization brings disaster.

Today, I left a civ, apparently a 10th gen family line, because it was heavily populated, low on seed, and had a guard who was actively having to kill people over seeds. After much searching I found a truly amazing spot, probably the best I've ever seen, in terms of mass soil, near carrots and water.

Well, at menopause I have one surviving son and no daughters. So I decided to go find the old civ, and see if i could bring a girl over. I make it back, to see only my little brother.

I ask if he's the only survivor and he says, "bear, sadly"

Then proceeds to pull out a knife and murder me.

This asshole, Lochlan, killed five of his siblings, and one of my sons who apparent survived finding the civ in the east. The bastard also murdered two cousins and a first cousin once removed...9 total.

His last words were 'Gg.'

WTF is wrong with people that they enjoy destroying something real people have spent 10s of hours building?

I don't know if you're familiar with the theory of Zomia, the idea that the Highland Asian people were refugees from the lowland governments/civs, but this is basically where I'm at now.

I'm close to becoming more like the "uncontacted" Amazon tribes and teaching my kids to fear and shoot at all outsiders. (I didn't know this until recently, but the tribes are actually hiding from white people, it's not just that they are so deep in the forest they happen to have not seen anyone.)

Also I didn't realize you just lose your last name if a descendant doesn't get named.

Re: Why i leave civs

Interesting roleplaying strategy, killing outsiders.

Another strategy that people used to use on this forum pre-apocolypse is leaving camp and then dropping daughters at good spots across the map, this spreads the lineage out to the point that it becomes highly griefer resistant.

Re: Why i leave civs

actually i'm really confused about this tree, navigate to 8th gen and you find someone killed by "Taron West" which takes you to "distant relative" and shows a different Eve West than the Eve of my family tree? how is this possible?

There's no way the eve couldn't be my grandmother...two Eve Wests related...different woman, whole different kid names...

Re: Why i leave civs

It's a good way to preserve a family line since big cities will eventually fall. Cities also seem to have a lot more griefers and murders along with food sponges.

Re: Why i leave civs

I was Lachlan.

Needless to say I thought I killed everyone but then you came.

You said you only had one son so I didn’t care.

I only did it btw because spooky Discord people told me to. I misinterpreted them because they on,y wanted males killed. Whoops.

I was both Eve Wests. I simply spawned in the same Town twice as Eve. So that town had two West familys living in it.
It was the town with the "WARNING" sign at the farm.

And West: That's either a crazy coincidence or a flaw in the spawning system

In all my lives I've rarely spawned in a town as an Eve, Having an Eve spawn in a town is really useful tho. Having multiple bloodlines in one town means we can get around the lineage ban and be reborn in the same place more often.

I was in that town, I wonder what the "warning" sign was about.

Since i mostly play as Eve or in my bloodlines, I have spawned in a few towns, it is rare but not super rare.
For that respawn reason the original family, I think it was "Queen", allowed me to stay.

Maybe that sign was there because of the aunt that was buried behind it. Maybe she wanted to come back as a zombie lol

Spent 2 lives in that town, one of them was very short lived. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=147370

It may look bad but I killed a guy only out of self-defense. I was warned about an old man with a bow running around the place, I saw the old man in question standing with his bow. He tried to shoot me but he missed and I stabbed him, Sadly he convinced someone else that I was the murderer and I got killed.

In this life the town got griefed, we lost all our sheep and bears killed most of us.....

Do you have some control over that? I don't spawn as eve that often and never in my own bloodline.

I spawned in towns plenty before the change, I still end up in plenty of situations where it's clear the bloodline spawned in an existing town.

I wrote warning on that sign. I was part of the Queen lineage. There were a lot of murders and bear deaths when I was there, so it's kind of just a general "be vigilant" warning. That and I didn't have letters to spell anything more meaningful.

No not really. Since the lineage ban its easier to spawn as Eve tho. When u die as Eve you do not get banned to that lineage, so u can have one more life in that bloodline, but after that life you have to wait 3 hours.

Hey mummy!

I'm your son John, I waited for you to come back my whole life. I had feared an accident, but I wouldn't have imagined a murder.

Know that through all the lives that my soul went through it was the first time I was given a chance to learn and test thanks to the wonderful place you found.

Thanks, Mom.

Re: Why i leave civs

This is why I leave big civilizations. People like Jonta who manage to kill 11 or more people
and still live to old age...

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … _id=173135

Once a knife is made, even for a good reason (sheep for example), I keep my caution meter on high. The peace will soon be over.
Others have already mentioned it in their post too.

If I'm female I watch my back and keep an eye on what people are talking about. If I'm male, and I'm not the one guarding
the knives myself, I might decide run off into the woods and set up a camp that I hope an eve can use one day.
Even if some things have decayed by the time she finds it.
Go Eves! You can do it! smile

I like smaller civs and little starter-pack places are quaint.

This game is still full of good people doing good things. <3

Please be kind.

Re: Why i leave civs

I was there when jonta killed us all. That wasn't the only knife in town, but we had so many people hovering
over the farms and ovens hoovering up all the food. That town was also in the middle of a desert so we were
all bleeding hunger to extra heat with our clothes..

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=173458

Edge of desert, not middle of desert is good hehe.

Sorry about that. I was Alexander. I married your great grandmother Pooja.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=173081

I kept two knives in my backpack that my gma gave me to keep safe. Never used them on people.
We were a happy town and productive though we were hungry a lot and mutton was running dry.
Before I died, I gave on the the Shepard and the other to my oldest daughter whom I trusted, Summer.

There were never any murders while I was there.

But I guess they got into the wrong hands after I died. sad

Re: Why i leave civs

just a couple hours ago, i spawned as an eve and named myself Eve Moon.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=181887
I had an amazing place, a 3x5 carrot farm, a 3x3 milkweed farm, and the beginning of a wheat farm made by my grandson Davie. When I passed away, i spawned literally one tile below my skeleton. I am going crazy with excitement because of how cool it is that i can see where my family goes after i die. In my excitement, i say I was your gma then I am eve moon and because of that it named me:
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=182029
didnt have any kids of my own because wanted to just work on civ, starved myself because all that was left was boy and old woman. still cool to spawn in the civ you created tho.
