Re: Blocked inside a sheep

Any updates on this? Saw now several people getting blocked.

You can't reach them, you can't feed them, things disappear if you die there.

Re: Blocked inside a sheep

What's happening here is that you've got walls completely around you on all sides.  You're in prison, essentially.

I think the sheep blockage prevents you from walking south, and there are blocking tiles to the N,E, and W.

I don't know that there's any way around this, if we want walls to be walls.  You know, if you imprison someone, the shouldn't be able to just step out through the wall.  If you slam a door in someone's face, that should stop them from coming in (walking further south).

That all means that it's possible to imprison yourself.

Here, you could be freed by a friend if they took away all the meat and then removed the skeleton with a basket.

Though in this case, it's not clear that the sheep carcass needs to block walking at all.  I'll look into it....

Looking at it more closely, the sheep bones are in the center of the tile for a pretty good reason (because of where the sheep falls when it dies, and where the meat ends up, it all looks best if the bones are centered vertically in the tile).  Because of the way depth sorting works, anything that's vertically centered in the tile must block walking.  So there you have it.

That's the 'bug'.

It is not clear sheep bones underneath you block going south, since you can walk off north, west and east.

Anybody knows whether the same applies for small trashpits?

Re: Blocked inside a sheep

Is there a good reason why there are things that are impassable? surely walls/fences are the only things that should be?

I get that trash pits are like holes, and you don't want people to stand on them, but surely you could prevent people standing on the tile but being able to walk over it? IE not being able to click on them but able to path-find through them.

Well, some bigger things look weird when you walk through them, like kilns.

Re: Blocked inside a sheep

It's fine that things block just they shouldn't when they are built for like 5 sec. We need more walls anyway. I try not to kill on corners and maybe even put a marker or filled pit

Re: Blocked inside a sheep

Not sure about the 5 second rule...

For this particular case, I'll move the sheep bones down a bit and make them non-blocking.

I think there's just a visual mis-match here, because the sheep bones don't look big enough to block you.  I really need to save blocking for tall stuff or holes.  You wouldn't be shocked if you built a kiln in a bad spot and got stuck behind it.  But the sheep bones make it look like a bug because they are so short.

Re: Blocked inside a sheep

Most dead animals (except for bear) and their bones are no longer blocking in the update that's about to go out.
