What is left when you die?

Does what you hold drop on the ground for other to pick?
What about your clothes or backpack?
In other words, what should you intentionally drop when you know you are going to die?

Items are included with your bones when you die, so others can pick up your clothes, etc. However, this only happens when you die on an empty space. If you die on farmland then it will not include the clothes (only bones).

You'll turn into a pile of bones with all your stuff on it. If you want you could pass on your stuff to someone else before you die or you can let everyone strip your corpse clean like vultures.

once i deliberately died behind a tree and got back my clothes like half hour later, was before update, i was killed so i thought fck them, it still works with reed skirt wool clothes

I did that too. I trolled a Queen that was passing down her crown and backpack (with knives in it) to her baby daughter. I immediately swapped out her gear, Her crown was replaced by a rabbit hat and the the knife pack was replaced by my tattered back.

I told her that I was the king now, I ruled for a few minutes. The Old Queen got mad and shot me with a bow telling me I wasn't king. I immediately ran off to a patch of maple trees and died behind one.
