Trash pit walls, tunnels and cactus farming, flatstone roads

So we brainstormed around sheep pens, and i made a few filled thrash pits today to test stuff
Also had a run near a desert where the good stuff was across the desert, and two guys who tried to teach died by snake

Then i made a road using stones and flat stones all across, as snakes cannot kill you on items either
This can be a viable strategy and a fun thing to do, place flatstones one after another to make a road, forges use 2-4, rest is unused
also put on perfect temperature tiles to grill your children on a medium temperature

The other is a bit advanced, but thrash pits when unfilled block movement, you can throw quite a few broken baskets and dead lambs into it, not sure if they block snake to enter but worth a try, but you can make a long line of pits with a few fences inside, this surely blocks anyone without a backpack to enter, place a seed row inside , so vertically very long, blocking entrance to hot area, also having reserve seeds, kids can try entering but they cant reach carrots without a basket of food, or backpack, as they need to put down fences and pick up food, this makes a bad strategy to enter it, also you can talk to them if they do so, gives a bit of time to explain. a guard can check up on it, clean out corpses.  even a matriarch, as you place the "wall" near hot desert area, the left/right side will be good temperature. she can explain what it is, no one allowed inside, only for seeds with a backpack.

I placed flatstones next to cactus, so i dont get bit while picking fruits, this is viable strategy to connect all the cactuses, if you got two or three groups of cactus of at least 5 each, a flatstone road can show the wae., also you can signal your city placement.

Its advanced and you gonna broke the shovel, maybe two, but all you need is a stone and stakes, dig it, take stake, make next one.
Two or three fence kits can block you a while especially if hot temperature and small hunger bar.
Or even better, place it in the snow, so backpack and clothing is required to enter. Keeps seeds safe, or other things like tools, weapons., can be used for baby "safekeeping".

You can make kiln bases too as it uses only one adobe, looks weird but blocks movement.

Make sure you craft a shovel or ask someone to do it and get the resources as it uses a few ticks of it.
Keep shovel inside so you can exit and remake it fast, then keep shovels inside it.

Gonna test next time i got a safe carrot farm and a shovel.

griefer challenge: trap a person, a building or a town big_smile

jason please dont remove the pits features big_smile looks so fun

Re: Trash pit walls, tunnels and cactus farming, flatstone roads

im sure they do, you need 16 for a 3x3, gonna test it

also i just want to starve somebody by digging him around xD

still need a shovel for entrance, you can use a home marker for extra cheepo
and a fence kit, but probably a permanent natural blocking thing does the trick, pond or a tree, cactus
saves making the adze just check location if it fits under it

i might try build it as an eve, using no advanced tools, adobe, skever, stone and a pond/cactus
mb if people see it, put some effort crafting the tools

and a complete, working sheep pen, tested it, works, unfortunately died before screenshot was too busy crafting file blank, made it second run without sheep inside,
cost: 1 fence
a shovel gets fcked up probably
this is my second round where i forged above 10 crying kids big_smile a lady took my brand new shovel to dig out empty fertile soil pits, so had to make new one
easy to remove with shovel, but same for the fences

not sure if correct, drop one item in each, still blocks movement but a griefer needs 19 more, so is kinda permanent

build near a tree with leaves, fill with leaves, fastest, cut the tree so a griefer needs two cart of leafs from afar xD

step by step:
decide location, shouldnt be too warm or too cold but out of the way, pelnty of space to extend, decide entrance direction
build corner fence
build diagonal thrash pit
fill thrash pit, you might build yourself or others  into it if not
go around with stake and make the pits

then just the normal stuff
make a bowl of berry, stick a carrot into it, place inside fence
take a rope, some food in backpack
get a bow and arrow, shoot muflon
kidnap lamb, bring home, fed it

if you leave pits empty you can destroy later, if you manage to make a full stone sheep pen around it, replace diagonal fence with one more filled thrash pit, then make the stone wall diagonally, make 5x5 stone wall around it
grief that! xD probably only by building around it, but you can block that by more filled thrash pits, and  dont think anyone destroys it by making a few stone walls, takes too long

they can kill all sheep, but then you can bring it back

next episode, oven base pen big_smile both runs were cactus village not swampland

best advantage is that is cheep, so you can make your saddle and the compost faster, some cant ever imagine wtf it is so they dont bother you

Re: Trash pit walls, tunnels and cactus farming, flatstone roads

Everything is so tedious with decay that new meta is to use rocks and flat rocks as roads and shit wall instead of stone wall.

Tedious works just make people less attracted to it, so they will find easier way, that is human spirit.

Re: Trash pit walls, tunnels and cactus farming, flatstone roads

as long as it works, imagine i did this in a desert village with 4 wells (which gonna be depleted very soon and still cant be refilled) and  like 4 ponds in close vicinity
all soil was depleted 3 biome away to left, too big desert to pass to right, if they can make compost, they can make wheat field
pie feeds them, they can make wheat straw baskets, kids can go further with a basket of cactus fruit

unfortunately you can spend a life making a proper fence, one more to bring sheep, people destroy by intent or accident, when you return people use your knife for killing and your walls and bell towers attract offenders
i never really was into roads, people tend  to cut the wrong trees, worst town death when you cannot make a fire easily cause all trees are cut and the leaf decays when you get back, yes i seen that once

cactus cities are viable, and some luck, some skill needed to survive  snakes, find cactus
reed skirt on man looks ridiculous, but you can pass it on
muflon hide instead seal skin, no milkweed needed

the onion and the burdock made the game much nicer, if jason adds some extra wildlife and plants, it can be good again

i didnt liked huge cities, they had everything, whats the point making another pen? peopel cry but i rarely see them heading out to remake the baskets

my problem is not decay:
-wells are useless cause of nabs
-backpacks are to expensive with current style of play, a thriving city might have only two of it
-pregnancy cant be prevented
-males got no advantage
-gameplay is repetitive and fast paced, too stressful to teach anyone, too hard to make connections
-so hard to archieve composting to have milkweed, to have soil without teamwork
-no recyclable iron

there are many problems

its a workaround, with sheeps, and compost, slowly a city can be built in harsh conditions, then you can do fun stuff like building stone walls and arenas for teenage kids to fight for a key to a paradise city, can be interesting to lock out people of a city and test their skill to let them in, kids are grown outside, you give a task and if completes gains acces
its impressive to play around it

my mom died before finding closeby camp, taking the only daughter

RihgLo6.png
only edited myself out as view distance wont show the top or bottom

had bow, rope ready, i made all adobe, possible in single lifetime, doesnt look that bad, and as an oven can store firewood, or as kiln make charcoals
