On the note of scrapping engines...

I have a list of interesting and useful mechanics that fit in right with the theme of scrapping engines!
(hint hint, /s)

-Poisoning food: You can poison an entire pot of stew, broth, sauerkraut, etc. People who eat it die. You can also poison a bucket of feed and insta-kill all the animals
-Setting fire: Buildings, wheat, floors, clothes, paper etc. can all be set on fire and destroyed with absolutely no effort.
-Destroying wells: Take a pick to the well and ruin it, making it unusable with no hungry work.
-Uprooting crops: You can now insta-uproot crops at any state and completely ruin them, no hungry work ofc.

Ok but let's be serious here, even these terrible ideas make more sense than scrapping engines. It's not realistic, it doesn't help anyone, it's only used for griefing.... I mean, wtf was Jason on when he came up with that?

Re: On the note of scrapping engines...

He's trying to force players to play a certain way for idiotic reasons instead of actually good reasons that make sense, he envisions complex civilisations, interesting interactions etc, which is good, but then execute it in a poor way.

So having fences for actual good reasons like protecting your property because it's actually needed in the context of how the game would be played becomes: "I'll make the engine scapable so they have to protect it with a fence from their own family members because that makes sense right", "your son is a griefer and he wants to destroy the engine because ???" is now part of the game for some reason.

And obviously the forced version of that need for fences comes off as weird, unintuitive and just bad design overall.

Hopefully the game will be genuinly interesting and the way he wants it to be at some point so he can remove all these goofy mechanics and weird logics.

-Placing glassware on the ground shatters it. Dude stop tossing all our wine glasses!
-Moving mine carts cause injury to players in the way. Owwie, my toes!
-Cars can run over other players. Having ran someone over before I can confirm that human + moving car = bad.
-Planes without landing pads crash and kill everyone on board.
-Babies placed on fires slowly cook alive. First, second, third, and fourth degree burns for all the children!

Worlds oldest SID baby.

Re: On the note of scrapping engines...

- Eating improperly handled meat causes food poisoning that rapidly depletes your hunger bar.   It looks identical to normal meat.
- Milk spoils if left out for too long.  Drinking spoiled milk makes you sick, causing vomiting that also depletes hunger bar.   Feeding spoiled milk to someone else has the same effect.
- Trying to mine or chop wood when you don't have enough strength causes you to throw the axe at the nearest person or animal, fatally wounding them.  If no one is near, the tool just flies in a random direction and breaks.
- Runaway horses can trample people by running over their tile, like a bear or wolf.
- Unburied bodies spawn corpse flies that spread yellow fever and cannot be destroyed.
- Adding a bowl of saltwater to a bucket of water turns it into a bucket of salt water
- Stepping onto the same tile as a trash pit causes you to fall in, breaking your legs.
- All dog breeds can be turned hostile by hitting with a stick.
- Wild buffalo are deadly.  Domesticated bison are also deadly.
- The bellows can be disassembled into component parts.  The resulting parts can then be eaten.

Re: On the note of scrapping engines...

We should be able to sabotage horse carts, cars and planes so people crash and die while using them.

Also we should be able to run people over with cars.

Re: On the note of scrapping engines...

ghost towns with 200 boards and animals but not a single iron cause no water cause 5 minutes you don't look at it, someone runs in a horse and steals it for the lullz

but you could always lock yourself up and sit and watch for 60 minutes that no one cares
kind of the same when Eves try to build a fence.  No time for tools and you starve inside trying to go out. We still don't have any static activities that take time and give decent reward for it.
