Autocomplete name function - a suggestion

Can we have autocomplete function for names?
It would automatically complete a name when we press tab key after we write first letters of someone's name.
It would be nice if it also worked in the middle of sentences.

Let's say there is a John Snow. We could write to someone "HAVE YOU SEEN JO" then click tab key and it would automatically complete to "HAVE YOU SEEN JOHN SNOW" and we could continue writting.

I think it would be the best if it would autocomplete only names of people that we know (they were near us at least once this life) or we heard about them (someone near us mentioned a person that is living anywhere on the map)

Would it be cool?

Re: Autocomplete name function - a suggestion

I have this in my mod, but I haven't worked out to limit to "known" names. Maybe people you've ever moused over? Mentioned names would be a problem because one of the motivations was Ugochukcachowhatever - somebody would have to type it correctly.

Someone could just write "Ugo" and press tab key. If someone wants to mention that guy, that means he knows him.

Yeah, hard names is another reason why this would be cool.

Re: Autocomplete name function - a suggestion

Personally, I find auto-complete features annoying rather than helpful and prefer to turn them off, when possible.

I prefer my typos to be my own, rather than generated by a time-saving "feature".    I am already frustrated by how many times I have randomly named a baby something weird because of the name commands.

I've also got complete for naming, so I can see what the approved name is, and cycle to another one if I don't like it.

I often live with typos in regular speech, but the game doesn't understand what I mean when if a name is slightly off.

Now that people can type more letters, it would be worth changing the command to be "Your name is X" rather than "You are X". I too have accidently named my kids because I was talking to another kid saying "You are big now, you can feed yourself" and instead it named them.

Or if we had a 1 time rename command for mothers, that would allow us to fix accidental names, and allow us to fix when a jerk ninja picks up our bb and names it something rude.
