Locks have been terrible since they were released. The only time I've seen them used properly was for keeping a diesel engine safe instead of being whisked away to the abyss or shoved onto a shitty car. Basically, it's better to have options than to not.

I spent a life in a low-pop town pre-rift with city walls and locked doors.

Also, when the server I was playing on got griefed repeatedly, some of my co-players made lock boxes and locked up tools inside of them.

I am glad whatever yadda yadda you said.

But I'm trying to point out that it's okay for pine doors to not be lockable because you've already got boxes + regular wooden doors to lock. While putting pine doors on a nursery will lower the temperature it's better to have something can't be repeatedly locked unless someone is stealing and replacing the doors.

Pine doors being new or not isn't the point. Their widespread usage is new. Before they were made cheaper they were effectively never used. Since they were never used, this problem went unreported. Now that they're then standard, they need to be lockable.

I mean, what magical properties do pine doors have that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to install a lock? It's unrealistic, silly and clearly not working as intended.

You can't install springs onto pine doors either, are you going to tell me that was also intended? No, there's no reason not to let them spring open and shut other than it being an obvious oversight.

Unrealistic is thinking that a lock will prevent me from opening a pine door lol.
Yes, people did use it before. I made a post in my ex girlfriend account 10 months ago telling people how I was locked my entire life in a building because people locked all wooden doors and how I failed to make a pine door when I was released (I actually made a pine wall).
So yes, people used it even 10 months ago, I’ve seen several ones when it was very expensive. People used because they are unlockable and everyone knew it.

You want realism? I'll support locks for pine doors if my ax in game can chop open any door. How about that dingle-brain?

Re: Problem: Can't Lock Pine Doors

I mean how stupid need to be to put a pine door to prevent griefers from locking it, like cutting it down is so easy, and then they can wall it off not like going trough the process of removing and changing an A lock with multiple keys around

Re: Problem: Can't Lock Pine Doors

Futile or not it's bloody SOMETHING. So what if they cut em down and replace them, we could go back and forth for as long as we want and the fact that pine doors can't be locked is and has always been a good thing. There's a system for ungriefing and conversely the griefers have the freedom to undo that work. OHOL has always been like this, so THAT'S why we STILL put pine doors up, even though they're replaceable. It's a cycle.
