Could we see some stats for /die

I'd like to see how many times *individual players* have used /die. Just a simple distribution. I strongly suspect that it's a small number of players using the command literally 100s of times at this point because often you get a kid who /dies in the same way several times in a row... it just feels like the same player again. And not everyone reads the forums or update notes so there may be a few "Eve Only Gotta be MY name" players who just don't get that spamming isn't improving their chances. (best chance to be Eve is wait till the server population is climbing)

Anyway it's not as big of an issue since the bone spam isn't so bad, but I do think it make mothers indifferent and grouchy.

"You wanna live?"

Is no way to greet a child. But I've done it when I get like 4 in a row ...

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Maybe Jason should rate-limit the number of /dies a single player can do. xD

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Google Docs: Paste entire list into Column A, sort alphabetically.
Copy list to B, then on Column B go to Data/Remove Duplicates
Set up on Column C1 the formula =Countif(A:A,B1)
Drag down C1 to copy to length of column B

The following results:

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Would also be interesting to compute /dies vs. play time (daily), but too lazy for that tonight. xD Might do it another day.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Yeah definitly should be some limit, 10 players used /die more than 100 times

Maximum at 238....

That's either a script or someone that really wants to be Eve or in a specific place.

Hm. As I suspected a large chunk of the /die babies are due to a very small number of players who are using it a whole lot. They don't make up the majority. Lots of people use it just once or twice.

But over 200 times? That's just abusing us. It's spam.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Damn. The title for the 2nd chart should be "Percentage of DEATHS due to each range" NOT percentage of players... Ima fix that... hold up.

UPDATE

mistake corrected.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

I suspeced that too. There are few very active and very loyal players who /die like there is no tomorrow. So it's a minority that just feels like majority due to their extreme spam.

Notable lives (Male): Happy, Erwin Callister, Knight Peace, Roman Rodocker, Bon Doolittle, Terry Plant, Danger Winter, Crayton Ide, Tim Quint, Jebediah (Tarr), Awesome (Elliff), Rocky, Tim West
Notable lives (Female): Elisa Mango, Aaban Qin, Whitaker August, Lucrecia August, Poppy Worth, Kitana Spoon, Linda II, Eagan Hawk III, Darcy North, Rosealie (Quint), Jess Lucky, Lilith (Unkle)

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

When Jason proposed the skip feature I was worried that /die spam would be an issue.    Before the change, people who spam /die would eventually lock themselves out of all active lineages and become Eves.    Now they can cycle around and around and around until they either stop spamming /die or manage to catch everyone on cool-down and become Eve.    I don't want to go back to the old way, since that was broken too.   But I think there should be some hard limit on the number of times you can use /die in a given time period to prevent abuse.   The rest of the server doesn't want to deal with an epidemic of ghost babies.

You could even set the limit quite high so it would only impact the top 5% who use /die hundreds of times per day.  For example - ten times per hour would let you scroll through all available lineages several times before you get locked out.   Even five times per hour would be enough for the majority of players, since most only /die a couple times a day.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Using over 30 /die commands in a day doesnt make any sense for under 6 families total.

And I usually use /die when my mom is dumb enough to call me Bad names like: Aborted, Asshole, Adolfo XXIII, Steve XVI, Epic IV, Lazer XXX... maybe I´m forgetting some names. Just no, I don´t have to be your tool.

Even Hope IV is ok, I mean, at least you are trying.

It makes no sense I kind of wonder if people are using modded clients or bots and doing this just to be annoying.

You can shift + del to die instantly on awbz client last I checked. You can die before you even hear your first cry if you're fast enough (but not too fast as then you get login failed.)

People have said since it's a lineage based skip you'll end up missing a big town or tiny camp if you die out of the wrong one when cycling through so it somewhat makes sense people would be a little more picky as you don't lose anything for using /die constantly.

fug it’s Tarr.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Cap the number of /dies at 40 a day. This would reduce the number of die babies by 25 percent. Put up a counter. If you use them all up you just can't play. This isn't going to reduce the number of people playing because it's so few people who are doing this.

It's not the softest nicest solution but I don't see how spamming us all is helping them get what they want and it's annoying everyone.

Had a relative that started picking my kids and naming them Steve regardless of gender or anything at all. I hate it becuase someone think its funny to have everyone called same name. But I agree Steve is not that bad.

Re: Could we see some stats for /die

Just ran some numbers about 4.5% *of players who use die at all* account for 38.1% of the deaths! This even isn't counting the players who don't use die at all...

Just 1.9% of players who use die account for 24.2% of the /die babies!

So even among people who use /die at all these are people who are abusing the system to an exceptional degree.
