What purpose does feeding sheep from a carrot farm serve?

I have spent a couple of lifetimes tending sheep farms and harvesting yarn by feeding sheep bowls of mashed berries and carrots.  I was wondering if growing carrots in the sheep pen would serve the same purpose of regrowing the wool on the sheep cnd couldn't find any evidence of this in the crafting recipes. Does anyone know if this is the case?

The only purpose for Sheep eating your carrots from rows is... need to contain the Sheep. Otherwise people would have 30 Sheeps running around the town because that would be easier than use time and resources to build the pen. When you have real threat of them griefieng though - you contain them. Just like in real life.
