Remove Wooden Chests

I think this has been spoken quiet often, nevertheless I'd like to add something to it.

I had a life where someone had build wooden chests just in front of every entrance of the bakery and died in that room. We couldn't tear down some walls because they were ancient walls, so the big beautiful bakery with all those pies, plates and bowls is now useless.

It would be great to be able to tear down ancient walls or at least move wooden chests.

Maybe a strong, young and handsome man could come with his big muscles and carry them two tiles away ?

Pretty please ?

Re: Remove Wooden Chests

Yes!
Move wooden chests (not box!), something like:
Chest + Adze = Movable Chest
Movable chest + Stakes (EW or Floor) = Chest

Chest must be empty to be movable (problem?)

Re: Remove Wooden Chests

Tbh, if movable chests aren't gonna be a thing, at least make the lids themselves removable- similar to how flint-tipped bowdrills were finally fixed to be removed.

Maybe using an Adze or a Bowsaw on a chest removes the lid and gives you back the planks used on it, in a similar manner of having the planks just leaning against the side of the box until someone takes them?

That way we get the wasted planks back, can move the box by making it a sledge/cart, and honestly the changes on Jason's end wouldn't be that big. Slight edit to the sprite [basically putting the planks leaning against the box] and the code'd basically be a recipe. "Adze/Bowsaw + Chest = Box w/ Planks."

Or maybe use an axe/hatchet on it and get kindling in a similar manner? Hatchet/Axe + Chest = Box w/ kindling.

Re: Remove Wooden Chests

Fix this and they will use marked grave instead.

Here's a radical idea though...

Curse system works a lot better now that Donkey Town is a thing.

What if every thing in the world had one extra variable - the ID of the player who last interacted with it. What if cursing an item in the world cursed the player ID attached to it...

Some examples:

Somebody builds a chest on the entry? Curse the chest.

Someone cut every last maple and juniper? Curse a stump.

Find a cart full of pies hidden in the wilderness? Curse the cart.

Someone pulls the straight shaft from a fence and lets the sheep out? Curse the fence post.

Is your town full of needles or seeds on every square? Curse one of them.

The town bakery mysteriously empty? Curse the empty chest.

Somebody pulled the last carrots when there were no seeds? Curse that hardened row.

Find a murder corpse on the edge of town? Curse the corpse.

Bear running wild in town? Curse the bear.

There would have to be some limits or changes because it would be way easier to curse griefers now.

Maybe cursing items only adds half a point?

Re: Remove Wooden Chests

its the most expensive form of blocking
rather give the door an empty tile which blocks building on it

i already told jason that we would need some tiles with special abilities

free tile/table blocks building and planting on it allows putting down item/items
dirt road- placeholder for real roads
now that filled pit gone, berry bush with soil on it, unwatered makes griefers life harder but we might need an item like filled pit was, unremovable blocking tile which allows standing on and passing trough it

its kinda your fault too, if making a wall, make a door on it (even if you plan 3 side walls), each 8 walls require a door  kinda, thats what i do with pens, each side has an entrance, except if planning expansion , but afterwards  when the size is enough, its more optimal with more doors
make the door stick out, this way requires more sides to be blocked, put some berry bushes in front of it so they spend even more time removing them or more walls blocking htem

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

Re: Remove Wooden Chests

This is why you have to make as open space for bakery and forge as possible, so it is much slower for one to manage to fully block the bakery. Although over time it will eventually be blocked by some blockhead thinking it was funny.

If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.
