How to use fence pens

Yesterday i was born 4? times to a city which had a decent sized fence pen
they were using berry field on one side to block it out the sheep
it got cluttered in the end so i moved it once, then we extended it with pharo

fences are still easily griefed but the only advantage is portability, so use it

first of all you need 5 height inside(minimum 4), so 7x7 at least, why? square shapes have more free tiles per walls
one side is next to the oven, other side next to side of city which is empty
once you got a lot of dung inside, will take a bit to clean it out, also you get sheep bones a lot
now you can use the same  technique as i used with hardened rows
shear and kill sheep on left side maybe move the dung to left side
once 5x5 wide on left side is full of dung/dead sheep, you can remove left side fences, also remove a line of meat/bones/etc on 6th tile.
this process is easier if you got less sheep, so shear and kill all except one or two

put the left side fences on 6th tile, put the top and bottom fences on the other side extending the pen to right side wall

the next step is to move the right side wall outside, easiest to get help, make stakes to the right, dig each fence and move it to the right
voila, you gained 5x5 size to the right, and 5x5 on the left is full of dung/dead sheep in the open
use that to compost and clear up the mutton meat and bones

now you can move it back later, or just go sideways again, by next time you might have extra branches so make more fences
if you got 5 extra fences, you can do it alone with no risk

i found an easy entrance type which stays within the height, its a combination of corner and front entrance and the cost is in between
1 extra fence
oooxo
oooxo
ooocx
xxxxx
o-open
x-wall
c-corner tile (not berry bush with this technique, maybe stack some firewood or something you dont need immediately)

all horizontal fences should be diagonal fence, all vertical should be NS fence, this way straight shafts cannot be picked down
if you want horse stops put it separately

eggs, we had an egg biome, we put like 30 into dung
we had tons of goose, cut 2 trees to make stumps(decap animation bit slow with only one), put goose in cart, decap on one stump, decap nextt on other stump, back to cart, take it somewhere and when you got them all  just cook it on ashes
cooked goose has 2 uses and more importantly you get back the plates so you can make pies instead of omelettes which are early game food and waste of plates when you got mutton

or other option: each 5x5 part of fences should be separated all except one, and put stakes on the 1 tile
when a compartment is full of met/dung/bones, move a top fence to this side one, you can clean out in peace, when other 1 or 2 compartments full, move it back

third option after you got trees growing and you can afford stakes 25 is enough for 7x7+1 fence
make the blueprint out of stakes, have multiple fence pens, once its full, move one lamb and feed it
shear/kill the rest and move the whole fences to new location
you will have a feeding pen, one box for dead lambs which can be converted to a cart later, feed until pen is full, do not shear or kill any in this, to have maximum lambs, this speeds the process of feeding lambs
one pen for shearing/killing once its full, repopulate others

with the bucket it doesnt matter where the wheat/milkweed/carrot/sapling farms are, so might as well compost for those near  the dung

the other crops (berry, stew plants, potato and cabbage) are better if you make the berry bowl with carrot and bring the straw near it

with permanent walls you cannot do this so you need chests in wall and plant it around for maximum security

a good shepherd needs 3 bakers to clean up after him, if you make clothes than you end up with tons of sheep, dung is always good to have, you can just feed grown sheep to make clothes, when you dont need dung, but this 5x5 dung/butchered sheep are not so annoying to clear up over time, when you need to go around fences its kinda bad

still the most time is saved when oven and wheat field is next to pens, so with this moving pens you can move around an oven and just replace wheat field every time, you can have the plates next to butchered sheep and make the pies on the spot rather than moving crusts or meat

pen in the pen-you can make an outer layer of diagonal fences and N/S fences and just 4 or 8 fence pens with one side E/W fences, so just move the fence rails to clean up, if sheep escapes, escapes to the middle near the oven
use one pen for carrot, one for growing lambs, other for butchering, when all dead, plant wheat field there

pits are decaying in 5 minutes now so you can use them for dead lambs, and cant make pen out of them
mallet is needed to make loose fences, so you cant accidentally dig them out
fence rails can still be removed by hand so make NS or diagonal fences only
a mallet is needed to make fences loose and move them
