Why do bells reach so far

So i was born, mother said our place was a little ways to north.  I heard a bell ring, my home was set.  I ran after it for 33 minutes without finding it, stepping on a rattlesnake(which i diverted my mouse away from well before, but too bad).  Why do bells have this kind of range?  What is the point?

Re: Why do bells reach so far

I guess its to add to that "I heard a bell in this direction, do I take a risk and walk there, it could be 1 min away or 5 lifetimes away." if bells only set nearby peoples markers then it turns into an "OH SHIT A BIG TOWN IS WALKING DISTANCE" its the same reason why I assume he doesn't tell you how far away it is, would not be heard to display a number under the arrow, but they would as mentioned take the risk away.

If eves spawn and hear a bell, they might not run towards it, if it's a proximity bell then they defo would.

He has mentioned before that he wants traveling to find settlements be a Risky, a multiple generation things, hence why you are never likely to spawn NEAR the bell anyway thus it will always take prep work and multiple gens to get your family line there.

Re: Why do bells reach so far

as soon as my kids turned 4 and i couldnt pick them up, the concept of eating from basket was too complicated for them, also they slow you down

i understand that it cant show distance or limti small areas, but a lifetime of running is enough. i think the map is liek 8k tiles so could be limited to quarter of that

i tried few times, and only like tiwce made it, once the first bitch i seen told me that we should move, cause "wild eves eat their resources" well bitch, you born into good place, i ran for 20 min eating berry and losing kids

you can try triangulation, instead running directly, run 45% degree, so NW bell run N or W, when it changes means you are close enough to reach
still can be like 10 biomes, but if you run like 30 screens away, lets say 600 tiles? and no change on it, than can be other side of the map

yesterday a daughter tried it and i seen a girl killing someone from my next family tree so they reached it max in 5 gen died out in 8 gen, i seen my girl left alive and she might did the same as me, running with basket, juggling with babies, losing a few by starvation or losing them from sight, but 3 people can actually carry a baby and food, or a bow and got better chances but still a half hour running is not fun to me anymore

Re: Why do bells reach so far

I have gotten my family to town before, I did plan ahead, I made two bkpks 8 storage and when you have a girl you can give that too her and still carry her. I took a snare and needle with me so we could make more, there is plenty of milkweeds when you travel. I believe she made it with her kids unless they decided to stop and settle, as the family lasted 3 gens after me.
