So, I know mods are a weird topic on OHOL, but I find myself struggling to learn machines like the newcomen devices and all of that without having to wait for the entire server to go to those times or wasting the village's resources by testing stuff out. Is there any way to have like a freeplay world or something where I wont starve and I dont die? Right now im going on a server that I have on my computer, but I die in an hour and cant get very far (then the server resets, since the last eve died). I am considering trying to make a mod that stops me from dying and getting hungry, so I can actually mess around in the game and learn how to play, but there isnt much info on modding. Has someone already made this? or can someone push me in the right direction to learn how to mod?

Currently, I am beginning to get fatigued by this game. I still have never made any Newcomen devices and dont see a way to unless I come back in multiple lives. The game has gone to a point where I immediately leave and look for new cities because I know that the towns that I spawn in will go nowhere if there is only one race. Personally, I do not have an issue with the race restrictions and language barriers. I believe it does its job well and effectively. I instead believe that the distance between the towns is too large, making it extremely difficult to find new towns with different races. If it is easier for us to find each other, then the race restrictions will not be an issue because we can work together. Today, I finally got lucky enough to have a ginger village and a tan village only 800 meters away from each other. As a tan person, I immediately went to the ginger village and had offspring there to try and merge the 2 families. I also got 2 maps and gave each village the other's location. In theory, they should always have access to each other and may eventually combine. The next problem, however, stems from the first. Even if I do find another village and do as much as I can to merge them, I can only stay alive for an hour. All of my work could be undone by just one griefer. The problem isn't the amount of time you can stay alive, it is that even if you are fortunate enough to find another race, in the end, it will all come down to your offspring being competent and staying alive. If the villages were always closer, this wouldn't be a problem as the different races would easily find each other and either trade with them, or move in with them. If the race dies in the other village, they can always come back. There is also another problem with how many people /die. The tan race that I inputted into the ginger village died off. Do you know why? It was because all of my great grandchildren died to immediate infant death. All of my work now being held to 2 maps all because of, not a game feature or mistake made by players, but because of other players wanting to be a certain race at a certain village. Sometimes I would get 5 babies all within 10 minutes, each and every one killing themselves. Eventually it would stop and my little village dies because the people did not want to play the game how it was supposed to be played. The worst part is... I became one of those people when I wanted to combine the 2 towns. When I found the town, I was too old to do anything so I /died until I came to one of the villages. Something needs to be done about /die. I dont know what, but a lot of villages die off because they dont get any lasting offspring. In all, I really enjoyed the game. It reminds me of dont starve but I like it much better because I will never get bored. Every hour I get put in a new situation with new problems and new people. As stated above, I believe that the difficulty in finding another race ruins it.

After many, many hours of looking for another civilization which had a different race, I finally did it. Granted, I was 55 years old, but I had offspring that were on the way. I was extremely happy for a good 2 seconds. I then saw that I couldn't understand a single word that was being typed from the other person. She couldn't understand me either. Can this be explained to me? It is already hard enough to find another race in the first place, but this is the first time that I have seen this barrier. How does it work? How do I remove the barrier? WHY COULDNT THIS HAVE BEEN TOLD TO ME WHEN I WAS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER RACE. Is this a small-known feature, or do people just forget to mention it? Plz help, it is impossible to get into the Newcomen machines when there are only towns of 1 race. The only time that I could find another race was when I spawned in 2 separate villages. I noticed that the bells being rung had a 5 kilometer difference in the north/south direction. (These bells are from really old towns which were 22 kilometers away from us. The towns also only had 1 race). This allowed me to know where exactly I should go in order to find the other town.  This game is getting frustrating because I cant get progress in the towns anymore. Even when I did finally break the barrier of combining the tan and black races, I only found 1 person who was nowhere near their town. They didnt even try to guide me to it either.

As a new player (having played less than 10 hours or so), I have been trying to figure out things on my own. I am discovering how to build the Newcomen stuff but had always run into this "feature" which prevented me from doing so. The main problem with this for me is that I will now either have to create new wells everytime our deep ones run out, or go on a fruitless journey looking for other people who might or might not be the skin color that you want. Also, if I ever wanted to, the Newcomen machines, hammers, pumps, rollers etc. Are now inaccessible to me. It is already difficult to learn how to create these machines and why we need them. This "feature" is making it even harder to learn how to advance into the later stages of the game. It took me like 4 lives just to figure out how to make a Newcomen pump, constantly going through the wiki and not being able to get coagulated latex because it wouldn't let me cut the rubber tree. Once I finally was able to get coagulated latex, I then realized I couldn't get the sulfur because it was in a desert, which was inaccessible. Other than a video, which took me 2 hours to find, this is the only time that this has been explained. If this stays, it needs to be made more apparent on what this is and what we need to do in order to go around it. Apparently this is supposed to encourage trading and interaction with other families, but I have never seen more than 1 family in a city. All this has done is stunt the development in all my cities making it where people don't know what to do in order to advance.

One problem that I constantly come up against is the inability to hold things in biomes such as the jungle desert and tundra. The only time that it lets me keep stuff in my hand while in those areas is when I walk into them as an infant below 5 years old which then takes away this problem. Is there anything that I am doing wrong? I have tried walking into the biomes with full clothing on and still no luck. This is very frustrating especially if I need sulfur or latex. Whenever I ask people, they dont give good answers and all of the videos dont have this problem. Me and my friends constantly run into this and if we dont have the biomes next to us when we spawn, we are unable to use those for the hour that we are in the world. I understand that the sudden change in temperature is causing the problem, but I dont understand how to keep our temperature stable while traveling to the biomes. I also don't understand how the videos that I watch are able to go into the biomes without any problem, not wearing any clothing or going into the area beforehand.
