Mycaela- This player enjoyed trapping people and I find it very annoying that the only way that we can deal with these type of ppl is to only curse them? That is not a harsh enough punishment. There should be a penalty system like a three strike system or if u get a cetain amount of curses in a day your account gets suspended. If your account gets suspended often, then that will result in a ban.

Ezzie- I was playing as Ezzie and had no children. She decided to murder me for helping save people.

#4 Re: Main Forum » Tool Slots or No Tool Slots? » 2019-12-20 08:13:10

Alright, how many tool slots do you guys have? Its not even that hard to gain tool slots in the first place as well.

#5 Re: Main Forum » Tool Slots or No Tool Slots? » 2019-12-20 06:04:55

Honsetly tools slots are even that bad. If u play the game often which i believe most players do then it wont even bother most players. I have been playing actively for like 3-4 days now and im at 17 tool slots. I dont even use 17 tool slots my entire life.

I haven't thought about it much but maybe just the same as it would be if you joined a family group that doesnt understand you just to make the system easier to work.

Playing OHOL made me realize that many family groups split up either because they got seperated through migration or simply left their home to make a new life somewhere else. We already know that as family groups split, their common language also changes slightly and over many years of seperation, the dialect can become so different that it sounds completely different. This is how many language groups have been formed in our world today and maybe that could occur in OHOL? This is just my take on language and may upset many people. I just wanted to see what other people might think of this.

I would really like a way where you can officially name someone as your heir for example:

Smith Boots is my Heir

Something like that would be so helpful and when you say this as a command, it would send out a global message to all your followers saying that she would be the heir. Also this would be super helpful because if you just keep changing lords, the badges keep changing colors making me confused if my lord that I am following has or has not changed who they are following.

Also I feel like if you were the first person to be followed then that would make you Queen/King by default. In this way I feel like you can at least get a sense of who is descended from who. Just like how Kings past their crown onto their son. The same would apply here except it would be from mother to daughter.

I would also like to see how many people is following who. Just like a number next to their name for example:

3 people are following James Smith

In this way I can get a sense of how many people are in this leadership group. Let me know what ya'll think about this.

#9 Re: Main Forum » What is your favorite town? » 2019-12-16 07:48:13

I dont have any images of the town I liked the most but I called it the Great City. This was about a week ago so no players live in that city anymore. One thing I really like about the Great City was the shrine that I and a few others built for Godess Rena. Im pretty sure the shrine is still there just in ruins now. I probably lived at least 10 if not more lives there.

Well wouldn't that defeat the purpose of being a kid then? Anyways I get what you mean but, its not that big of a deal. Most players understand what toddlers are saying anyways.

Just recently played a game and there was a boy named Kilian and he force fed me and all the babies. This lead to no food being left and we all starved. This is actually becoming a problem.

Her reason was that it kept me full longer. Please get rid of this system. It just causes a big problem.

I really wish there was an early warning system for animals that are about to kill you. Like for a wolf that is nearby, give it a howl so you know that you should be careful and for a boar give it some grunting noises.

These would really help out because a boar is not actually silent when its out in the wild. Also its not like they stalking us down like prey. I would be minding my own business then BOOM im stabbed in the chest by a boar. Like damn, can I not just enjoy nature?

Anyways, an early wanring system for animals that can potentially kill you would be super helpful.

ORDER, PLEASE REPORT TO TOWN CENTER

Would send a DING message to your immediate followers (if you were a King, it would go to your Dukes).  They would see:

DING
AN ORDER FROM YOUR KING SAM THATCHER:
PLEASE REPORT TO TOWN CENTER

You could also communicate to the entire tree, like so:

ORDER ALL, WE'RE OUT OF WATER AND NEED TO MIGRATE

This would send a DING message to your entire follower tree.

DING
AN ORDER FROM YOUR KING SAM THATCHER:
WE'RE OUT OF WATER AND NEED TO MIGRATE

I tried using the order command and was confused on how it worked.

Is it typed out just like how it is written above and do you have to be a certain rank in the leadership to be able to use this command?

Hi! My idea would be to have more war tools in the game, like shields, spears, combining them with horses and tactics with them, say phalanx. With this, perhaps wars would not be just a "who can shift + click faster ". Sorry the gramatik but i've learned English for 5 mounth.

With the current game mechanics it wouldn't be possible to use two items at once.

#17 Re: Main Forum » Coming soon: voluntary leadership » 2019-12-15 06:16:16

How do you name a person as your heir? Does the one with the most followers become the heir or is the first born daughter/son become the heir by right?

Probably already answered but I dont wanna scroll thrught all the meassges to find the answer. I'm lazy.

First, this is a brand new crash of some kind.  Your client should never crash.  I hope you're willing to help me find and fix this crash.  Please see the sticky thread about how to catch crashes with the debugger.

Second, if this happens, you should be able to re-launch your client and rejoin that life.  Crashing shouldn't kill you.  You are still alive server-side (this is not meant to be a "fix," but a work-around so that you don't lose that life).

Thx for letting me know, most likely I was playing the game before the game was updated and it hasnt happened since but I will keep you updated.

So I am not sure if this is happening to anyone but it just happened to me two times in a row.

I was minding my own business when I gave birth, the baby decided that it didn't want to be mine so it decided to sciucide. Right when it scuicided and right when I picked the baby up my client crashed. This happened to me two times already and I am getting very fustrated because I was still fertile.

Imagine if your an eve and you wanted your line to continue, this would make me very upset. Has this happened to anyone today if so I would like to know if it is just me.

Reduction and absurdum is a valid form of argument.

Right well I will say this last thing. The difference between you and I then is that you were making an argument using absurdum. When trying to persuade someone while using a fallacy, that is not a smart idea for it can make your reasons sound ridiculous. I simply was trying to persuade you so that maybe just maybe giving dogs the ability to protect us and/or themselves would be beneficial to everyone. Remember we are supposed to be thinking about how we can benefit all players not just ourselves. Also, many people in this thread seem to like the idea of having dogs help us and I can see why they would like that. Let's not get political about this and just focus on how to improve on this game.

With that being said I hope you have a wonderful day/night/afternoon.

Collies are sheep dogs.   They are excellent herders.   German shepherds are a great all-around working dog, useful for herding, guarding, and many other tasks.  And beagles were originally developed for the sport of "beagling" which is a fancy way of saying "rabbit hunting but with small dogs".  Dachshunds are another hunting breed, developed to have short legs and a long body to allow them to enter underground burrows in pursuit of prey.   Airdales are the "king of terriers', the largest of the terrier breeds.  Like all terriers, they have a strong prey drive and willingness to take on anything.  They are a great all around farm dog as well as being capable at guard and police work.   Schnauzers are similar to Airdales.  Developed as ratters and farm watch dogs, they are small but tenacious.   The chihuahua has a long and convoluted history.  As a breed, they were mostly used for companionship, but there is some evidence that they were also raised as a food source.   Sorry chihuahuas!

It would be great if we could utilize dogs to make our lives easier and more entertaining.

I definitely agree with you here. All the dogs in this game have some type of hystorical use. It would be great if Jason would apply those traits for the dogs in the game.

#24 Re: Main Forum » Possible Update? Role for Dogs » 2019-12-13 19:36:02

So... Spoonwood I believe you have made up your mind and I can not persuade you otherwise from what you believe about your opinion but I will say this.

Spoonwood wrote:

So, the notion of a food chain that you use is entirely suspicious.  Were it an actual food chain, only humans would eat other beings.

Definition: a hierarchical series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food

Key word: Organisms

You say humans would only eat humans in a food chain? Im not sure you even understand what a food chain is. Like the definition says, "a hierarchical series of organisms each dependent on the next as a source of food" we ourselves are organisms. What you said in your sentence only applies to humans? Makes no sense

Spoonwood wrote:

Archimedes ultimately caluclated pi because of the domestication of dogs, James Watt made/perfected a steam engine ultimately because of the domestication of dogs.  Such notions are completely absurd.

Please look into what a fallacy is. Since this is a fallacy.

Spoonwood wrote:

Dogs won't protect you from other animals in OHOL.

Actually, thats what this thread is about, allowing for dogs to protect us from other animals. Not sure why you wouldn't want to be protected from a bear or wolf, but hey man that is your choice not mine.

Spoonwood wrote:

They are potentially dangerous in OHOL, and can be actually dangerous in OHOL.

Knives and bows are dangerous yet we still have them in the game. Players are creative and will find way to adapt.

Spoonwood wrote:

there was a dogpocalypse, dogs take up space

The problem about the dogopaclypse was already fixed. Not sure how this would be a problem again? Everything takes up space. I was reading some comments on this thread and the idea of leashing a dog to a fence doesnt sound like a bad idea too. If that were the case and we would be able to leash dogs to a fence for example that would defintiely clear up some space dont u think?

Spoonwood wrote:

Animals are not a tool for you to use in the real world.  Real world animals get mistreated all the time in the real world, because of people that view them as a tool for their own use.

Not so sure if you noticed the quotations around the word tool but just to make sure you see it I will show you the quote. This quote is from my first topic in this thread.

MCzerotacos wrote:

I would love to see some time of gameplay mechanic that uses dogs as a "tool" of some sort that would finally give them a purpose.

I put quotation marks around tool because I couldn't think of a word that described what animals that do work for humans are called. By reading what you said on how people view animals as tools, what I have to say is although you don't like to believe animals are used as tools, its a sad reality that they are. There are cases about animal fighting and I don't condone that type of thinking about animals but what I do support is work animals. Such as using cows to plow fields, sheep for wool which gives us warm clothing, chickens for their eggs, etc. These are but just a few of the things humans have used animals for. Right or wrong without these animals we most likely would not even be able to reach our stage of civilization.

This thread was to encourage or maybe even have the possibilty of making dogs have a use most likely work related. We are all entitilted to our own opinions and I respect yours. I would love to see the thoughts of what other people think how dogs can benefit or not be beneficial so that we can see how to improve this game overall.

Spoonwood wrote:

Would dogs be useful in a future world where we had to start over from scratch to re-build civilization?

I think that dogs mostly consist of pets these days.  I could be wrong about that, but I think they are mostly useless, no matter how lovably useless, these days.

I just don't see enough reason to believe that they would be useful in the future.  Dogs might have evolved into a form where they become entirely useless to us.

Not entirely useless actually, many people around the world use dogs as "tools" in their job path whether it be ranching, protecting livestock, sheepherding etc. Also since this is the future and we are trying to rebuild civilization, it was the domestication of dogs and how we used them that allowed humanity to thrive and rise to the top of the food chain. To say dogs are useless is just not thinking of how we can use them effectively. Of course dogs are great companions but that wasn;t their main purpose. It just happened that humans found comfort in them and they turned out to be GREAT companions and I really don't see anything wrong with that. Anyways if they are so useless like how u state then, why are there dogs in the game in the first place. Its like adding another biome but not putting anything in that biome. Waste of space. What im getting to is that I wan't a purpose for these dogs or if they are getting no purpose then no dogs at all. I would prefer for dogs to be in the game and have a "job" to fill though. In any case dogs are in the game, giving them a purpose would make the game a lot more fun.
