My suggestion is to learn how to speak English more clearly, or at the very least get a friend who does and have them read the details for you.

I make this suggestion because Jason is working on this game all by himself, and I do not think he speaks mandarin or Chinese.

#2 Re: Main Forum » What is going on here? » 2018-04-23 04:48:55

This game is pretty much dead, the amount of users total on the servers at any given time has gone below 100. Most long time players have upright refused to play at all and constantly give bad reviews on this update. Jason refuses to acknowledge his consumers wants and continues to do what he envisions in his game. If Jason was making a game for his personal consumption and use, then I wouldn't care what he did, however, I and several other people payed in cash in order to enjoy his creation that he gave out for consumer use. If his goal is to sell and create a market for his game, this update has ruined that and his refusal to fix it will only kill his game. Perhaps Jason's goal wasn't to create a game that people can enjoy, but to create the game he envisioned, if that is the case then we are all pretty much fools for buying into it.

My suggestion is to find competent programmers and game makers that are willing to create a nock-off product of one hour one life that will give the consumer what they asked for.

Okay guys, I've been playing this new update and found a reasonable way of overcoming decay with the current possibilities at hand. The solution I have is berry farms, although they take a full hour before fruiting they are extremely useful. You can plant as many berry bushes as you want and even plant them near already existing bushes, they don't require constant upkeep nor do they have to be replanted(unless some jerk uproots them or lets them die without being watered). My sollution is to plant as many bushes as possible and have at least 10 bushes per a person. Its not as hard as it sounds, just make everyone in the community plant bushes until the whole map is filled with berry farms. Leave space between the farms for other facilities such as a place for making tools and cooking, but other than that go crazy and plant those bushes. Lets start naming all of our kids Bush so we can spread the word !!

But I wish you the best in your endeavours.

Thanks, and you are right. But its just an idea, and not one that I intend to stress over. If not alot of people are interested then thats that.

We may also need to add time schedules if we have people filling in specific roles, but that will only be if we actually do this thing.

Hey everyone, I'm interested in trying to build a constant community on server4. I was wondering if anyone would like to help out? My idea is to make a town that is easy to locate, has all the needed resources and can support a massive community. I understand griefers are an issue but we should also build the community so that they can enjoy playing as well. After all griefing is just another way to play, though not very constructive. For griefers we can have them build a community of raiders, like the Vikings or Mongolians were. We can build our town to priorities defense and have several guards on duty and let all citizens hold knives for self defense, unless you choose to be a pacifist.
We need large storage buildings for storing food, tools, and raw materials. Build dedicated buildings such as blacksmith, barn house(for horses and sheep), even a town square where the bell tower will be located. We should also organize our farms to be efficient as possible and have a dedicated seeding row. We also need to make the town easy to locate so that anyone joining the server can find it.

After we finish the first town we can move on to making another town using the resources we gather at the first town. The idea is to make a massive community that can supply a large population at any given time. We will also need living quarters for the players in the towns. The purpose of living quarters is to store food that will be eaten, since it would be counter productive to eat things straight out of the farms and anyone caught doing so will be punished. Every citizen should have access to a living quarters, clothes and backpacks, and lots of food. We can even make a delivery service to deliver these things.

Positions that will need filled are;
Builders - to construct the holding pens, houses, barns, nursery, bakery, blacksmith, and etc.
Farmers - for constructing farms and maintaining them. This includes milkweed farms.
Bakers - for baking gathered food goods and cooking food.
Nurses/Wetnurses - basically the spawn-point/caretaker of children and future generations(they will need a dedicated building too)
Gatherers - to gather resources from the surroundings(probably the most important) they will need to be split into groups, such as food gatherer, hunter, and natural resource gatherer.
Blacksmith - in charge of making all our tools.
Weaver - In charge of making anything requiring string aside from tools and perhaps carts(Maybe have a separate group that makes baskets and carts?)
City planner - for planning the layout of the city and making sure all groups are working efficiently(this is very important and will require a very confident player that understands the game well)
Protectors - to protect the players and city from unwanted guests and other such things, they will also help out the city planner in making sure everything is organised, they will also need to be
confident in their gaming skills and know how to play well.
Deliverer - very important job for carrying resources, materials, and crafted goods from one place to another. this job is to cut down the amount of work for the other jobs and they will always
be busy, they will be the first people to receive shoes and high grade footwear as well as carts and baskets.
Griefers/marauders - it would be nice not to have any, but if there are some out there then we need to find a way to include them(after all it will give the protectors something fun to do) all I
ask is not to go crazy destroying stuff and doing things that will cause permanent damage. Such as plucking unripen milkweed, or moving soil and cutting down berry
bushes. As for murder and stealing, so long as it is done in a more constructive manor and not done excessively then its just apart of the game. Who knows, you may even
be able to take over a town and grow it yourself while dealing with rebelling forces.

Just note that this is all just an idea and nothing more at the moment, I need help from the community of OHOL to make this work. If you are a youtuber or videotuber then feel free to record this construction is we ever manage to start it. I don't mind taking a back seat in all of this, I just want to be apart of the construction of this community.
If we do construct a server4 community lets give it a name that will set it apart from the other servers! This doesn't have to be just my idea, everyone hop aboard!

#7 Re: Main Forum » Playing with friends » 2018-04-21 06:45:33

Those are nice alternatives, but I want a friend feature and friend support added into the game itself to improve the game over all. I don't want to have to use alternate methods, which is fine but I would prefer that features for friend support be added.

2HOL sounds cool, but I don't like the idea of living for two hours straight. One hour is already a long time for me, but I will check it out at the least.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Build a Utopia with me » 2018-04-21 06:10:20

I would love to get in on this, but I won't be available Sunday. I will also have to download discord, I use Twitch and Skype.

If we do this we will need to appoint people to positions ahead of time, to move along progress as fast as possible. Starting on the monument as soon as possible is also a must. we should all log on at the same time as eves to spread out the search for a good place to start and when someone finds the best location we all re-spawn on that person.

I bought this game as a suggestion from my brother, later I bought the game for him so we could enjoy some co-op building. But it was nearly impossible to get born into the same village, finally I hoped on server four where no one was and me and my brother where able to enjoy a two man colony. Later a third party joined us and we managed to make everything you need for a village. We had an overabundance of food, tools, and everything else. Later I even secured livestock and two horses with saddles. We even started on the monument.

That was also the most fun I had while playing One Hour One Life and I would like to experience that more often. I don't think I'm alone in wanting to create a friend feature that allows for you to spawn in with your buddies. One way to implement this is at the start menu allow for players to put in the email of the player they want to spawn on as an optional choice. This will allow other players to spawn on them, but only allow for them to be spawned on the specified player. If the friend that is being spawned on is a male then you should allow for the spawning friend to be an eve that is married to that male. In other words the Eve would take on the name of the male player. If the player was Ronald then the eve would be Eve Ronald.

Anyone else have suggestions? Lets get them out there and who knows what Jason will think of.

#10 Re: Main Forum » Jason's Murder Problem Thread » 2018-04-20 17:13:11

I have been wondering about the murdering problem. And lets just say I have been "testing the waters" so to speak. In one life I was born to the queen of the village and later crowned on the royal thrown. Anyone who opposed my rule was "disposed of". Well, I managed to kill three rebels before a group of low life thugs tried to destroy my rule. I wrestled to protect my crown and eventually managed to kill one of the rebels. But just as I was turning to take out the next thug, I died of hunger. Later I realized I had three knifes, why didn't I just make a royal guard? well you live and learn. But then in another life, I was born in a village with major over population and food stores where draining fast. So what can I do to help? getting more food would be difficult in the short term and something needs to be done fast. I try letting the villagers know and stop letting every baby live to help out. My request is unanswered so its time to take matters into my own hands. I find a few caves and lure in a bear that goes to town on the citizens, in less than a minute the bear had already ate up all the kids and women producing them. It was horrible, I later realized we had no women left, no young ones anyways. I had indeed done a terrible thing, but it did allow for the villagers that lived in the village to prosper and eventually a unrelated eve came along and gave her child to our village. In a strange way, I was able to save our village from utter destruction.

That being said, I think that there are some issues in the game that should not be solved by the developer and should instead be collectively addressed by the community. The purpose of this game is to replicate the system of working together in a collective to produce something we wouldn't be able to on our own. That's why we should have an entire forum page dedicated to in-game issues. Such as; policing, law regulations, royalty and crowns, population control, and those are just a few. Just how Jason let us know not to pick the last berry or to only pick fruiting plants, or only kill the family rabbit pits.

Also, having babies born with "the mark" if they where murderers in their previous life sounds interesting. But if that's the case, there should be a "non-lethal" way to handle criminals so that police forces or protectors don't receive the mark. This non lethal method can't be to restraining because that would take away the fun of the game, perhaps adding shields to the game would be a clever mechanic. These shields should be able to block arrows, and push back knife holders, they should also be attachable in a way that allows for you to have a backpack and hold something while wearing the shield. This would give a large advantage to the defenders and make pvp kind of dull, but it would raise the level of protection available. letting knives and shields be wielded at the same time shouldn't be an issue since even if the other side has both knife and shield he still won't be able to stab another party that only has a shield.

Well that's all my thoughts on this subject good luck on finding a solution.
