Well most people ragequit when they see their mother is 'poor' (i.e. isn't wearing a full set of gear with a second set of gear available). So apocalypses don't cater to this demographic. Moreover, this is a civilization-building game. I'll be switching to a server with no wipes.

It isn't that bad. You get the soil, then each worm is worth another 3 soil each. You can often find a few soil spots together too. So I think it is fairly reasonable for a village to get about 100 soil without any trouble. If you are really motivated and travel far, 200 maybe 300 is even possible. Which, now that I think about it is probably 3 days or something. Which doesn't seem very long but is far longer than a city is expected to survive, if the new changes coming up(spreading out eves more so cities die, and blowing up the world).

In my experience, towns of 5-10 people go through about 12 soil an hour. Several times more if your farmers are inexperienced. Arrows cost 4 soil, a set of basic clothes from scratch cost 4 soil for the snare and 8 soil for the shoes and I assume 6 soil for loincloth+shirt+hat. Clothes are deleted permanently whenever someone disconnects. So that's 18 soil gone every time someone disconnects. So accounting for disconnects and assuming that bushes never dry out and there's one fully-geared disconnect every 3 hours, then I predict that a town of ~8 people will deplete at least 18 soil per hour.

Now in the past, a populated town could plant wheat to make food and basket production more efficient.

So, how do I spawn worms? Do they spawn once per 5 minutes per fertile soil pit?

#3 Re: Main Forum » Is this the new Dwarf Fortress community? » 2018-04-08 05:29:43

I have 501 posts on the Bay12 forums, played two succession games, and joined the Bay12 Lands of Lords alliance and the Bay12 Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup clan.

I expect a Bay12 OneHourOneLife server once there is a Windows server branch.

Oh yeah - and I have 130 Dwarf Fortress videos on youtube. I agree with izak about OneHourOneLife having the same vibe as Dwarf Fortress.

I had seven of my babies in a row disconnect inside of a town, and when my mother said her game crashes in a different city, it did.

Maybe a way for the server host to track the ip of serial killers in the server logs?

#6 Re: Main Forum » Seriously, why is murdering people so ridiculously easy in this game? » 2018-03-31 13:17:20

I had some really beautiful roleplay moments, saying goodbye to my loved ones.
And then there's this:

#7 Re: Main Forum » How to catch crashes » 2018-03-31 05:45:44

Edit: After reinstalling I got the message: failed to apply update - move game folder somewhere that is not read-only. When I delete the original installation it says it's in use by another program (even after deleting everything in the folder).

Moved to my downloads folder, patched, and now it works.

Graphics mismatch items after today's update until I disable customserver.txt and patch. Maybe give us a message when our client version does not match server version?

Instructions.txt Discord link is expired.

Within a minute of spawning the game freezes indefinitely and then crashes when I input any button, generating this error:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
