If it's dead it's too late, you need to hatchet/ax it and replace it.
If it's not dead yet than putting steaks on it will prevent it from dying until you can get soil.
Clicking on bushes and bowls hundreds of times to make compost is not fun. When the bush is in the middle of the patch it's even worse.
Please remove this monotonous uninteresting task and let us scoop all the berries from a bush with a bowl like we used to. It works for beans, please bring it back for berries!
Feed shorn sheep -> wool + dung
Feed grown sheep -> dung only
Feed lamb -> New sheep + dung
+1
Trying to save the city by feeding the last shorn sheep the last carrot just to return and find that someone clipped the sheep you just feed. Now were're in deep shit with no dung in sight. Someone is getting stabbed and it's not the last sheep.
So if you just want some dung, you feed a grown sheep and don't have to bother with over production of meat.
I've never looked at pile of mutton and been like "there is just too much". The only problem is the storage and transport is annoying. Let us stack it and put it in baskets.

What if the meat decays unless you salt it?
Hi Ryan - thanks for chiming in. I love onetech! I have not tried the mobile version, I will give it a try though.
I think you nailed the key frustration many new players are having which is what made me want to start this thread, the inability to toggle up and down the tree makes it almost impossible to use. I love the "let me show you" dynamic as well and I doubt a good in game guide will impact that as learning by showing will still be infinity easier.
Maybe we can craft a recipe book in game and when you pick up the book you go full screen craft guide. This would even be a town focal point where people meet to discuss crafting and help each other (and fight over the book). A fancy podium for the book would also be necessary.
Whatever the solution, I do believe the in game tips can be improved without hurting any other game dynamics so people that want to learn fundamental aspects of the game can without having to keep leaving the game.
I've learned almost everything I know by asking other players in-game and by reading the hints.
And those that taught you probably got those recipes from onetech.info like I do.
- OneTech has been around within a month or so of the release, it's always been there for me.
- People would not be AFK longer as it would be easier to learn to craft and once you learn you don't really need it.
Jason changes his mind all the time like when I (and others) suggested signs https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=827 and a moderator said it ain't going to happen. A month later we had signs and a month or so after that we had paper. His big push on launch of this game was basically screw Steam but here we are (I love the steam player flood)! Just because Jason says he is against something does not mean people should stop suggesting it.
I just don't think the interesting part of the game is learning the recipes, it's knowing them and trying to use them to provide for my family.
I guess in the end I'm suggesting what many others have suggested (and led to a recent update) to improve the crafting tips. I'm just saying I don't think the tips UX is quite there yet. Something based on ontech design would be a better start where you say what you want and can work backwards up and down trees but I'm sure an in game one can be even better.
I believe the act of going through ontech is hard enough, it doesn't need to be harder than that to learn in game. Imagine when the number of objects are 1000x and you're a new player.
Really, the key parts of the suggestion is full screen and navigable, don't be shy about showing details when asked!
It wouldn't be the actual website! It would be a custom in game interface but function much like the website in terms of how easy it is to use to accomplish a goal like /compost. Most players go AFK to use the website and even pros do it for updates.
You basically MUST leave the game in order to learn the game which is a terrible gaming experience.
Just want to suggest that commands like /hatchet bring up pages like https://onetech.info/71-Stone-Hatchet in game and allow you to navigate objects the same way as the website. Ideally while listening to health/surroundings and maybe a light opacity so you can still see what's going on and maybe even navigate if you click outside the craft buttons.
Fixed. You fucking happy?
Nice, a moderator and a dick. Welcome to the fucking forums.
sc0rp,
As I said, I skimmed the conversation and saw what was being discussed. I was voting that it should be an object in my original post. Your arguments simply prove I was contributing to the recent conversation.
Now I see why you're being a dick, because you replied once disagreeing and think that's the end of it, just like a 12 year old! If a griefer wants to run behind a tree and die, that's fucking awesome! I can stop chasing you with a voodoo doll and get back to the fun.
Lastly, I didn't say you are 12, I said you have the brain of a twelve year old. I wouldn't expect a 12 year old to catch that subtly either.

I don't have time to read four pages of little kids being snarky dicks to each other. The worst part of this game is all the assholes in the forums.
You perfectly describing yourself: I don't wanna waste my time reading anything about topic I'm discussing, so I'll just waste time of 100 people by repeating something that has been discusses literally two posts before and mentioned at the start by Jason himself.
I obviously read Jason's post before posting and nothing was mentioned about crafting an object to curse vs saying their name. Did you even read my post before making your snarky comment about not reading other posts because I skimmed the thread and also see no mention of my suggestion.
Reading every word in a four page thread before posting is not mandatory, I guarantee you post without reading everything first.
Admit it, you just made a snarky reply because your 12 year old brain though it was funny and you lack impulse control at that age.
Gederian wrote:Also, why make the curse by name? Make an object you must craft and use on the person/grave.

Not a huge fan of this cursing thing. Now a griefer can grief me into the next life too? Fuck... I thought lives were supposed to be unique. Mass murder one hour then The Pope the next. Plus the superstition of curses will seem dumb when we are able to make atomic blasters.
I would much rather see a points system based on crafting accomplishments like, you water 10 plants and get one good will point that's visible to everyone. If a fight I have with someone stealing my hammer gets me cursed in other lives, so should the fact that I just made a complete set of tools.
Thought this was going to be a suggestion to allow or to just always spawn an Adam with an Eve. Friends could play together this way and there is a good chance one player is better and can teach the other. Plus, super charge starting from scratch.
Two random people deciding to go on a rampage is an awesome story. So is one suggesting it then getting backstabbed when the other tells someone else. Either way, it would be a much less frequent occurrence. I personally love the idea of team kill as a sort of trial by jury.
Most killers hide all weapons and crafting steps before killing making it almost impossible to respond before they kill all the women. Then you have to craft a weapon while being hunted. The killer always has the element of surprise and the upper hand.
The lone two fighters is not a problem because the honorbale one can choose to run away or fight and die. Either way, much more rare than the current killing.
Killing killers with other tools while staggering is a great method since it requires action from defenders, you can't hide everything without others noticing, and you can skip the stagger when getting vengence with non weapons.
Id be curious to know how many blood lines end because a killer gets all the women.
I'm at least happy to see this issue being considered since this is a game about family lines, not an FPS.
If death is the the likely penalty for murder than murder will be so rare that these edge cases will also be just that, rare yet epic stories.
I'm not sure what else to do, though I'm still thinking about it.
1. Killers can be killed with tools/rocks/rope/etc while staggering.
2. Killers stagger until they starve or someone feeds them so killing requires teamwork to not die yourself.
3. Killers loose their weapons after shooting/stabbing so someone else can grab them (bow drops too). Blood on clothes/body of killer to identify.
Joining was about as easy as not being a known Griefer, and chatting with us for a bit before established members of the tribe vouched for your involvement with their name on the line.
You denied lots of people simply because you didn't know them. Nobody would vouch for anyone unless they specifically played with them before so in a sense, it was impossible to join outside your pre-established group.
Your idea of 'legit' being the factor of 'going with anyone that want's to join' would be its own special category of rules of play, which is arbitrarily set by you.
It's not my rules, it's the way Jason intended the game to be played. That's why you spawn to random eves and are expected to raise children or your civilization dies. Your rules of play were the arbitrary ones.
I am sorry that the existence of Griefers might have prevented a few legitimate players from joining the World Record Run, but unfortunately our ends justified the means, and shortly after we dropped the verification, griefing followed.
Griefing is an intended part of the game which was eliminated to achieve the record.
I'm not trying to devalue your accomplishments, it's just my personal opinion that the spirit of the game was circumvented to accomplish it. I'm sure it was lots of fun and I even think you should do it again with more trusted people to see if you can keep it going for several days. I would however still think the accomplishment should have asterisks.
I don't have a problem with the voice chat at all, it's smart and makes the game more fun when friendly people are there.
I do however think that going to an idle server and letting anyone born who wasn't part of the group die was a violation of the spirit of the game. You're not supposed to have control over who you spawn to or continually spawn to the same family. The hardest part of the game is the unexpected challenges and you completely eliminated those by letting everyone die.
I think the record is not a true record and should be reset in addition to not letting people select specific servers that are part of the official server pool.
Edit / P.S.
The new challenge someone is starting to keep a server going with anyone that want's to join would be a legit challenge, even if you use voice chat and a specific server (although that still degrades the significance).
P.S.S.
Yes, I am butt hurt that I tried to join and was denied but I would still think the record deserves an asterisks next to it.
I have a surfacebook and the dGpu is off by default for most applications. I had to specifically enable it for OneLife.exe file. Here is how to do it:
1. Make sure your nvidia drivers are up to date by opening your control panel then selecting Device Manager. Expand Display adapters, right click your Nvidia device and select update driver.
2. Go back to control panel and click "NVIDIA Control Panel" (be patient, it opens but there is no indicator). Click the Program Settings tab, then click Add, then click Browse, then locate your OneLife.exe file. Select the Nvidia processor for step two then click Apply on the bottom right.
That's it. You should now get to 60FPS and vsync will be enabled.
The game must be hard.
It should never be easy. You should never get to the point in the game where you can say, "Hey, we made it! Now what?"
A game doesn't have to be hard, it has to be FUN and it was a lot of fun before this nightmare. If I can never see what I built in the past and how it affected the future I see no point in playing as that was the appeal and the promise you made.
I'm probably high up in the charts of time played and I never got to the "Now What" place, there were still lots of things I haven't done. If you focus on adding craftable objects weekly as you said than nobody will ever reach the now what place.
Every village dies out in less than a day, currently. That's great!
No, it's not. It's also not realistic that humanity has lasted a maximum of 31 generations.
You could add things like disease and crop rot that makes the game harder as you evolve and thus more likely to end a civilization. Instead of making existing things harder (like adding worms) just add new things that are more likely to cause extinction.
You should update the code on your server or keep a separate version of the client on your computer that never connects to the official servers and gets updated.
You typed it as apocalpses for the counter on http://onehouronelife.com/
The longest generation is 31. That's only 7 hours!
I think that's the real problem.
Making eves spawn far from existing villages and decaying dead villages would be fine IF it was easier to keep a village going. Absent a successful griefer and lazy farmers, generations should last thousands of years as they do in real life.
Maybe each server should be a single civilization that dies when everyone on the server dies. Each server could have a cool down between births so in the event of famine or mass murder than a natural apocalypse would occur and the server would reset when the last person dies.
The appeal to me was to log on in a year and see a robot standing next to the well I built a million years ago (because you know, they are indestructible). I hoped everything you built would be tagged to your character and you could say "I built that" and be able to prove it.
P.S. I have played hundreds of lives and have yet to do everything in the tech tree.
im confused what the update added, anyone mind explaining?
Griefers can now destroy entire civilizations by putting a crown on a horse and tying it to a stop light. Yah, i'm pretty confused too...
