Miskas has the best maths. I love math. What does this info mean? BTW, nice google doc.
I am a dirty, dirty roleplayer. I roleplay in the game, sometimes on the forum and if I'm being honest, a bit in real life. I can't help myself. I'm a dirty, dirty roleplayer. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

If I understand things correctly, these numbers are the base values of each bite of these foods BEFORE the generation based penalty is removed. In early generations, food is "worth more" than it is worth later on. In Jason's own words:
This week, a new gradual scaling system is in place: as the generations wear on for a given family, a growing value is subtracted from all food values. This value reaches a maximum of 5 after about 30 generations, and if subtracting the value would make a food 0 or negative, the food is pegged at 1. So a berry would eventually be worth 1, while a feast plate would eventually be worth 35*. A cooked rabbit would drop from 10 down to 5. You can see how this kind of adjustment affects low-value foods much more than high-value foods, in relative terms. It is a bit like the opposite of the eating bonus, which buffs low-value foods much more than high-value foods, relatively speaking.
*Note that according to One Tech, the feast plate value was changed to be 60, so it would become 55 at max degradation (not 35).
This is VERY important, because it means that the actual value of many low-pip foods drops down to just one pip over time. The higher pip value foods take the same 5 pip hit, but it has less of an impact, because they still provide a decent amount of food in each bite. Also, some foods are not really impacted at all. For example, popcorn is only worth one pip, so it can't lose any value from degradation because it has nowhere to go. From a practical standpoint, this means that many basic foods are much better in an Eve camp. Later in the game, most basic "ingredients" are almost completely useless for straight eating and should only be consumed for yum. If you want to grow you yum bonus rapidly, eat a bunch of UNIQUE low value foods. If you want to fill up your hunger bar without wasting a lot of food/resources, it is better to find a high-pip value food instead, like stew or the better pies. Feast plates are also really hefty. Just don't waste that large value by eating a feast plate when you are very young. Your belly doesn't have room for all that food.

As you can see there is a HUGE amount of variation in food value from the lowest 1-pip foods in group 1 up to the monster meal provided by the feast plate. Foods in groups 1 and 2 are basically "yum only" foods. Not really useful for filling your belly, unless you are very young. Groups 3 and 4 are potential "staple foods" that can be used to feed the village, but some foods work better than others. For example, cooked fish gives 18 pips as a base value and 13 pips after generational degradation. That's a nice amount of food ... but fishing is biome-locked AND resource limited AND heavily-RNG based. It is very hard to mass-produce cooked fish, so they are basically a novelty food. In contrast, crocks of three sisters stew are easy to mass produce and provide hearty bowls of stew that fill up your belly. Crocks of stew are also STATIONARY. Which allows you to set up a spot for stew and it will remain an area full of highly visible food.
That's why you have started to see fields of stew in many villages. It is the new berry field.
