Bear Parade new grief meta

Had a guy roll up on brown town today at the Gay Family....guy was on a horse and brought like six bears.  I was old and a few minutes from death.  Gotta watch riders keep arrows and meds stocked.  Jesus 5 fitness in one life from one wise guy.  Be alert.  We hit with some curses but probably not enough.  Mage Gay was the culprit.

Griefers out in it force lately, so be prepared I've gotten a little lax in making meds, red cross aprons and arrows.  Make sure towns have those stocked in abundance. I'm gonna start ragging on that...sorry in advance.  :S

IDK lock up horses carts with arrows and bow????

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

Ummm bear griefing isn't new.  Luring bears on horseback isn't new, either.     People have been doing it for years.  It is just an easy way to kill a lot of people now that the leadership changes make it harder to murder them directly.

Of course, it doesn't help that bears can now mow you down, even if you are standing on an object.   I miss that bug/feature.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

Yeah true bear assaults are nothing new.  Just noting it's probably meta again, hence new meta. Meaning most effective for of mass destruction, plan accordingly.

I don't if you've noticed we've haven't been holding towns tho...so clearly we getting beat up.

Seems every night is reset to newcomen pumps.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

I don't think that's down to griefers.   It is a problem of game design.   Griefers wipe towns occasionally, but they do not take down ALL lineages every day, consistently, for weeks.  That is a systemic effect.

Towns are not supposed to last, because we quickly run out of new survival goals after hitting oil tech.   The rapid town cycling keeps us from getting bored and demanding content updates.   It solves one big problem, but creates another one.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

i found that town gomez, four bears each with arrows in, cant help thinking if all the arrows had hit one bear it would be dead reducing problems instantly. Best advice is curse them out of existence. teach the many noobs in game right now to curse griefers out of your lives. we have one on hetuw who did nothing but whine about getting banished there for the best part of a month, hilarious. Jason removed all other ways of dealing with them easily and gave them easy ways to screw a tribe over fast so send them where they belong, i can testify first hand the crying they do once there lol!

Is blocking them off still effective?

Yep, blocking bear caves still works and you can also build walls/fences around the town to keep out bears, if you want.

do Bears re-spawn, if not why not kill them before they used for griefing?

this is becoming much more common. i have done it myself hunting 8 in one life and a dozen wolves+6 boars and seen others proactively hunting them on a few camps. idk if the caves respawn bears after a while though.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

Bear caves don't respawn, hunting them to extinction is always a good idea if you have the time.

I played in that town at that time as well, I was born during the bear bloodbath and we managed to kill Maged and all the bears when we got older. He got about half a dozen curses that I saw (probably more from before I was born).

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

Easy mode: Just put fences in front of bear caves. This passes down eternally through the leadership system and unless your leader is specifically going around giving access as long as the family lives it's not possible to release bears (since the gates are passed per generation and no one should be going around to dismantle them lol.)

Hard mode: Hunt all the bears down and only worry about bears at server reset not that towns last long enough for this.

Third option - form alliance with bears and fight crime together while riding a horse.

That'd be nice if bears only targeted Spoonwood and griefers.

i definitely shot a guy off a horse in the past in game, is it currently not doable or is my memory misleading me? it would have been over a year ago

Yeah property fence gates should be easyest way to get rid of bears. So long the griefer is too lazy to get them from far away

idk if you can shoot someone on a horse, but mosquitos and wildlife will completely ignore you.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

I think a debuff like when you have a large posse on you after you get agro from like four or five bears to kick you off the horse is in order...it's crazy like the bears take over the whole town even if you have arrows and competent people it's still rough...

Seriously don't take it lightly it's major destructive at best the town is disrupted for 20 or 30 minutes, even getting shots off from arrows is hazardous with that many bears.

fourth option declare an autonomous bear free zone....

Last life also got bear griefed and worst i got blamed for it, dont know why, was most life in town and already very old age... maybe because i took the meat from the dead sheeps a griefer killed already for making pies... making pies becomes dangerous in this times....

people get really crazy...

at least many where wearing beautiful cloths smile

I'd rather have an autonomous bear zone for player-controlled bears.   We could rest in caves to get warm, give birth to little bear cubs, and hunt mouflon to fill our pip bar.

It would be like OHOL and Shelter had a baby.

Re: Bear Parade new grief meta

Destiny that actually sounds like a good idea, LMFAO! Instead of donkey town you spawn as a bear and get to be hunted omg that would be epic.  Maybe start as boar and have to get a lot of curses to get bear...lol.

I'd rather reserve controlling bears for people with high genetic score.

Griefers can gain control over worms.

I was going to say they can be born as dung, but even dung is so much more valuable than they are in the game.

lol yea.

Was thinking about how it would be to let players play animals, maybe even plants which multiply and stones that can speak to some...

Worms for griefers sounds nice, at least they can do some composting....
