Maybe if updates stop happening sometime, it would be worth your time to buy or play this game (this post is written for people who want super-long lineages).
However, it's gotten rejected as an issue that lineages can't survive updates: https://github.com/jasonrohrer/OneLifeData7/issues/562 Alright, maybe the original issue wasn't understood since the game designer talked about people instead of lineages in his response? I can't say that's likely after seeing this: https://github.com/jasonrohrer/OneLifeData7/issues/565
What's even stranger here can get understood from these quotes:
I'm also perplexed that there have been no extremely long or even eternal family lines.

Expectations:
Eternal survival of one family will be possible through distant resource outposts and migration.

You want a long lineage that has even remotely a small probability of lasting more than a week? I don't know what to tell you. You're wasting your time even thinking about this game if that's what you want. The system dooms you from the very start (almost surely in many more ways that the first closed github post talks about, but the github issue is the most straightforward one in my opinion). And since the game designer doesn't have any interest in changing anything, you may as well ignore the above quotes as even remotely meaningful as something that he'd be willing to even attempt to make possible for you and others... not with anything new on the horizon.

If you want endless lines you have to get friends from lots of different timezones and no life. The coordinate with discord.
I'm sure a family could survive even using basic bots. Two bots being born to eachother.

Can you stop making spam threads saying the same exact thing?
Thanks.

It wouldn't even happen then since lineages can't survive updates.

Really? I challenge you to prove it by writing code for such bots and then implementing it.

I would have to have said the exact same thing before to satisfy your request. Where did I say that anyone should stop playing or not buy the game before, because of the rejection of death of a lineage by update as an issue? Where has there existed any information before that suggests that Jason has no intention of ever doing anything to make eternal lineages possible so long as he's doing updates?

You're so right. This post about updates killing lineages is completely different from all your other posts on updates killing lineages. So strange that someone might call it spam.

I didn't say that it was completely different. I said it wasn't exactly the same.
I don't know whether Tarr is being strange compared to others in saying that or not.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the sameness of your lives on bs2 with lineages dying out for the forseeable future Destiny. I don't think you have cared about long lasting lineages for a long time. If you have, my mistake, but sub species aeternitatis every single life has been the same and will be the same for the foreseeable future in that the life is connected to a lineage that is short.
Edit: I don't think I talked about updates killing off families in your first link Destiny.

I honestly think it's fair to want families to last a long time. It is a huge flaw that all the families die out between updates.
The issue I've seen is that even when families split it seems that one line always dies out naturally while the other does very well.

Frankly, I am not at all satisfied with the current state of the game, Spoon.
There are many serious problems that I would like to see Jason recognize as worthy of his attention. The lack of village persistance is just one of many game-breaking issues that make it hard for me to recommend this game to new players. But I've basically given up fighting for change. At least for now. I will probably try again later. I can't help caring, even when it hurts.
Friendly word of advice - sometimes it is important to take a step back and play something else for a while. You sound like you might need an OHOL break. Trust me, I've been there.

MEMENTO MORI! Remember death, you mortals! Entropy must consume us all! The heat death of this universe is ever approaching! Nothing can last forever! It all returns to dust in the end! Order what ye may, chaos shall overtake it! Dream, hope, struggle! Your efforts are futile!

I'm a bit perplexed how someone bitches about this game as much as you do, yet you still play and invest a lot of time here on the forums..
Your bitching and long ass posts reminds me of Morti right before he had a forum meltdown. As Destiny suggested, you may need to step back from the game for a bit.

I haven't played on bs2 since early July.
If I wanted to play some small part in a lineage which lasted anything more than a mere tiny fraction of time, why would I ever bother?
