To Ivy Blank

When I was born, I knew I'd never settle for ordinary.
The simple back and forth of my vibrant ginger family teaching their new babies simply wasnt enough for me.
Our south bell town was so small, it seemed suffocating.
So, when I was about five, I decided to follow the northern road, a place I had visited in my dreams. I ignored every instinct warning danger, and plunged into the unknown, searching for my destiny.
That's where I found her.
As I got into town, I ran straight into a strange old woman with a mouth full of murder. As I ran, another strange woman shot her with a bow. Unable to speak the language, I offered my savior a pie from my home as a way to show my gratitude. She responded with a devious grin, and I decided to be wary of the people I met there.
About a year later, I came across a little girl, Ivy Blank.
She didnt seem more than a year older than me.
She did, however, seem confused and lost... no expression on her face and barely any clothes on her body. I knew where some clothing was, I had seen it while I was exploring. I brought her an apron, and she took it with a smile on her face. A smile I would never forget.
After I found her the rest of her clothes, Ivy stayed close to me. She didnt wander too far. I could tell through the language barrier that she found comfort with me. As I did with her, in this dangerous town.
I grabbed an empty piece of paper and a pencil I saw laying around. Being young, I knew I couldn't say much and had only one shot, so I said to her, "do you want to come to my hom"
She took the note, and held it with joy. I gave her a pie and we began our journey south. The idea of home seemed a lot more welcoming with Ivy by my side.

Re: To Ivy Blank

We met twin brothers along our way, and they joined us on our journey south. Henry and his brother seemed to pick up immediately on our languages, and it was nice to have company we could speak to easily.
Finally, we made it to my home. Ivy took back out the note I had written to her, "come to my hom," with the same smile she had given me as a small child.
I told my family I had brought Ivy and the twins, and that they were good people, but they seemed to be tending to troubles of their own.
My mother greeted my quickly, but then told me the village was on a quest to kill my brother, Hades. He was causing trouble. I wish I took this warning more seriously in my youth.
Ivy began tending to the needs of the town, helping the farmers and the shepherds. I struggled to find a purpose for myself now..  my mind could only concentrate on Ivy.
After a few years, I realized the only future I wanted for myself was one with Ivy. I knew I had to marry her, but with the language barrier and no paper around... I wasnt sure how I could propose to her.
Henry and his brother walked by, and an idea came to me. I asked Henry if he could translate for Ivy and I.
He agreed, and asked Ivy if she wished to wed with me. Her smile spoke louder than any words she could've said, so I asked Henry for one more favor.
He said he would wed us together, for a price.
Henry and his brother were in love, and wanted a family but couldn't conceive. They asked that in exchange for uniting Ivy and I, we gave them our first born child to raise as their own. They were good men, so I agreed.
The wedding was short, and only my sister was in attendance, but Ivy was the only company I ever needed. I told my mother of our union, and she said congratulations but that she was still busy trying to kill Hades. My sister commented in disgust of our same sex marriage, but her negativity was outshined by our joy. Even when she attempted to murder me for it.
I later had a child, named Ivy in honor if her second mother, and gave her to Henry. His excitement was unparalleled, and he took his new daughter off to raise her. Ivy had a daughter that she named after me, but she died of SIDs.
Many years passed and I had one more daughter, that ivy and I raised together. She loved both of her mothers equally, and we raised her with the same love Ivy and I found when we were kids.
My family members had all grown old and passed away, except Hades. It seemed that mother never caught him. The twins even tried at one point, but they got old and passed as well.
Hades kept coming back to town in an attempt to murder our daughter, but he never seemed to be good at anything. I made her a knife and showed her our medic supplies. Ivy and I kept her safe, into our elder years.
With only a few years left in our hourglass, ivy took me to a graveyard she had created. It had our deceased children, and by the shovel she was holding, I knew she would bury me next to them.
She pulled out the note I had written her when we were children, and flashed me a smile that displayed all the love we had in our lives together.
My final words were, "I love you Ivy," and as I died in her arms, I knew someday I would come back to bury her next to me.
