How Would Updates Work...

How would updates work if it were regularly the case that the player population was over 400?

Just like they do now, but the screaming would be so much louder with that many starving babies.

Huh?  Server1 has a max population of 400, while bs2 has a max population of 600.

Re: How Would Updates Work...

Eves were supposed to spawn once there are more people playing if I'm not wrong, so everything would be fine, we would just have many more families.

It would be fine if ratio between experienced players and newbs didn't decrease, but it probably will.

This game isn't newbies friendly. Newbies can learn basics like farming and so on but they can't learn about wells, which is the most important thing in the game. (They can, using external sources only)
Therefore they won't know how big issue water is, how to get more water, not mentioning they won't get that we need more families to build next level well.

I'm talking about server discrepancies.  Server1 can have 400 people, bs2 can have 600.  Nothing about families or new players.

So you are asking what happens when we overflow the server?

Hmm .. I have no idea.

Yes.  In particular, what if server1 overflowed because of the population flooding into because of getting redirected from bigserver2 during an update?  Of course, the game hasn't gotten close to that point since the bigserver system has existed, but still.

Re: How Would Updates Work...

If server1 gets overflowed then they will be redirected to server2 I guess.

Re: How Would Updates Work...

When the newbies learn some basic skills then this game could be cooler than ever. Imagine having a world with five or six large, developed families and ten more primitive ones. In the meantime, veteran players should probably learn to use rubber and make industrial components for these wells. I don't even know how to do that properly yet. So many different components...

actually, i noticed today....whenever bigserver2 gets to 100 pop...it automatically moved incoming players to server1 (i think)
(as long as you don't have custom setting to bigserver2)

server1 had 24 players earlier

I saw bs2 get up to 150 at one point.  I did see when players got reflected to s1 for some reason.  However, it wasn't because it got to 100 pop.  The people get reflecting to s1 out of nowhere is an old issue, that no one seems to have a clue as to why it happens.  I remember Tarr mentioning it in some thread that Jason had mentioned.  I have to wonder what Fug thinks of such a problem.
